What to do after cave tubing?

We are considering doing the cave tubing with Major Tom. After the excursion what else is there to do in Belize? Are there beaches, shopping, etc. near the port?

I asked the same thing on the Carnival roll call. Someone suggested the nearby shops. I wanted to know if there is a nearby beach.

There are no beaches in Belize City within reasonable walking distance of the pier. Depending upon your excusion's length, you may have time to go to a beach either through your excursion provider or private taxi. THe cays are very beautiful but may be too far away. But to most cruise passengers, the "rundown" appearance of the City (due mainly to hurricanes over the years) isn't appealing to walk through. There is a large open air market selling fresh fish, veggies and baked goods near the swing bridge that separates the downtown from the port. There are also several hotels and restaurants on the other side of the bridge. But the primary shopping, eating and drinking for cruise passengers is at the tourist village area by the pier.

If doing a cave tubing tour and including lunch (great suggestion ;)), there will not be much time to do anything else with the minimal amount of time you will have remaining in Belize. There are some shops and bars right inside the pier area, but again, with having to grab a tender back to the ship after the cave tubing tour....your time will be limited.

Major Tom does a great job... you will be happy you booked your tour with him.
