Swimming in the Blue Grotto (Capri) - after the boats stop

Recommended Posts

I've spotted some information on being able to swim in the Blue Grotto near Capri after the boats stop running there. Anyone ever done it? I've also heard that the boats stop a little earlier in Sept/Oct. Any idea if that's true and what time we might be able to take a quick dip before heading back for a 7pm depature from Naples if that IS the case?

We were in Capri about 6 years ago and a bunch of students were doing cannon balls off the ledge and nearly hitting the guys in the boats. Since we didn't want to pay the outrageous fee to take the row boat in, we waited until they left, stripped down to our underwear and swam in.

It was certainly one of the best experiences we have ever had and still talk about. Some British tourists waited on the dock and lent us their diving masks.

Go for it! You won't regret jumping in but wait until the boats have left.
