Waitlisted Cabins

Does anyone have a good experience booking a cabin that is waitlisted? We are booked on the CB in July. Some of our family may now want to join us, but it seems that most cabins except suites are listed as Waitlist Only. Can you just book any cabin hoping that if a cabin in any class opens up, you can have it? Or must it be a cabin in a specific category? Also, do you know where you are on the waiting list? Anyone with experience booking one, please advise.

If you can book a catagory that you would be OK with if you don't clear the waitllist, then that would be fine. I have had the experience of clearing a waitlist but you never know.

i booked an interior cabin (fully expecting to stay in it) and continued to be on the waitlist for the ov. after only 2 days, waitlist changed to an ov guarantee. (which got upgraded to a balcony. wahoo!)

I was #26 on the wait list for a full suite on the Star in April. I was notified in January that I had gotten my suite. It was nice to know so far in advance.
