what is the most you budgeted for expenses

Having just returned from a Mediterranean cruise I can tell you it is very expensive if you want to go first class.... If you take private transportation from Rome Ciampino Airport to the Civitavecchia Port, it is going to cost between 125.oo & 250.oo each way... Private tours can be VERY expensive if you do not share the cost with other cruisers. Princess wanted $ 1600.00 US dollars for an 8 hour tour (up to 8 people)... But if just the two of you are going.. It is expensive.... A group of CC's booked private 8 hour tours and it 550.00 for 8 hours.(Which was Great !!)

So if you figure "an experience that we wont forget "... for just the two of you:

Rome Ciampino to Civitavecchia Port and return....... 500.oo

4 days (8 hour tours) € 550.00 =........................... 2,200.oo

4 days (tours & cabs)€ 250.oo =.......................... 1,000.oo

Meals & snacks 8 days @ € 50.oo = .................... 400.oo

(daughter paid $ 7.50 for a coke outside the coliseum)_______

.................................................................... 4,100.oo Euro's

..............................................................................X 1.40

___________________________________________________________

............................................................................... $ 5740.oo

4 hour tour $ gondola ride in Venice ($200.00 P/P).................400.oo

............................................................................... $ 6140.oo

You should be able to have "an experience that we wont forget "... on what you have budgeted..

You should be able to find fellow CC's on the "Roll Call Board" that might be interested in sharing some of the tours.... Just finding one couple to share could save you a couple thousand dollars.... AND not all posters are as ville as some you have met on this thread and will be looking to share tours....

tHANK YOU YOUR TYPE OF POST IS WHAT i WAS LOOKING FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. I have arranged with my cc friends on roll calls to do excursions this will average us aprox 1200 dollars we are arranging our own in Monaco where we will rent a car to visit family, venice and croatia once again for your to the point post

I'm budgeting about $3000 for 4 of us on a 7 day sailing. Which is all souvenirs/shopping (tshirts, xmas ornaments, that kind of thing), drinks, munchies in port, 2 days pre-cruise hotel stay in Miami, taxis/transportation in Miami and in port on the cruise, pre-cruise meals, balances on 4 excursions.

my wife thinks I am over budgeting but I am figuring, 9,000.00 for a 12 day cruise. we prepaid Our flights, hotel and airport parking, but we still have excursions, and time in the casino. We dont drink much but i am considering prepaying 100 dollars worth of drink tickets. Am I overdoing it.

PS We dont really buy jewelry, but want an experience that we wont forget. Thanks for input.

Gee, I don't know. That's cutting it pretty tight. Maybe you should save up another year or so until you can afford it.

  • 3 weeks later...

In my next life I plan to be rich! My husband and I used to figure about $200 a day on our non cruising SCUBA vacations for food, drink and diving. Our hotels were timeshare. I would imagine I will plan about $2000 for the cruise to cover a few of the excursions. It is a 12 day Mediterranean trip.

WOW! That's one hunk of change - did someone say Carnival??????

Don't mean to be "mean" just REALLY jealous.

I stumbled on this thread by accident. I am looking for private excursions in Rome/Florence/Naples...

Still hoping more people from our cruise find their way here.

just 2 months till we leave

Alaska 7 day cruise onboard we spend $1000 which included two excursions each, lots of expensive NCL bingo, 1 soda card, and tips. Off ship we spent $800 (which included two jewelry purchases). What you spend will be up to you. I thought we spent too much. I had a friend who spent almost as much onboard for one person (I was two) but she spend a lot more on alcohol than I did.

Don't pre-pay anything. Cruising is cheap:
