galveston parking and hotels near cruise terminal

Ez cruise has parking that is very close to the terminal and sometimes we just walk to our car instead of use their shuttle. Lots of parking in all lots. You can reserve in advance online too. As for hotels, they really vary. We have everything from the Hotel Galvez, beautiful and historic, Harbor House, right next door to the pier and then Comfort Inn etc. I would say that because the island is not that large any hotel is close to the pier but some have shuttles and parking deals. In the summer its harder to find a room for one night because its tourist season.

Harbor House is the only hotel right next to the port. They offer cheap parking too, but sometimes require a two night stay. Both holiday inns have free cruise parking and shuttles. Others like Howard Johnson, Super 8, etc, offer free cruise parking, but no shuttle .... take your pick. Parking is cheap at EZCruise too, $50 for a 7 night cruise and they shuttle you over with your suitcases. Very few park at the port itself.

We have stayed at the Harbor House twice. And the port has several large lots that they shuttle you to and from, but I think it's $10 per day.

Anyone tell me which are the best hotels to stay at near the cruise terminal of Galveston, TX? Also how is parking at the cruise terminal galveston?

Thank You.

Some of this information is pre-hurricane!

Instead of staying close to the Cruise Terminals (the backside of the island - exposed to its armpit!) why not stay on the Seawall?

If you are flying in from somewhere else the advantages are the same.

We have stayed at Hotel Galvez, Hilton Galveston Seawall, and the San Luis (all of these hotels have re-opened). The Hilton and the San Luis are owned by the same company and therefore have pooled resources - an advantage. Also the are located on 50th street a straight shot to the Terminal Entrance.

All provide free shuttles to the Cruise Terminal and Pickup and FREE PARKING (with a minimum of one nights stay). When we stayed and cruised we parked our vehicle in their lots and we were off to the Cruise Terminal. A hassle free transfer. Make reservations with the hotel for the shuttles over at least 3 weeks prior to stay or you will be on the 1:00 to 2:00 shuttle (still not bad if it is free). Once we returned we called the hotel and they were there to pick us up.

We have used hotel shuttles to take us (a large group) down to Guido's Seafood so that we could close the place down and get safe transportation back to the hotel. (Also a good idea since parking in many places is limited on the island.) The Shuttles will gladly take you anywhere, so if you are without dedicated transportation for any reason, you can still get around (don't forget to tip).

The advantages to going down the night before are many. RELAX. Sleep late, take a dip in the Gulf. And SEAFOOD! Nightlife is slowly creeping back into Galveston. (The hotel concierge can help you with current re-openings etc.)

Consider that you will pay $20/day to park in the Cruise Ship parking and it might be a factor in your decision.

If you get in a day in advance take time to go to Moody Gardens!

Tremont and Harbor House are just as close to terminals and Tremont is now open.

Tremont, Galvez and Harbor House are all owned by the same,

Tremont and Harbor House have guest privilages at Galvez pool.

FYI: New Olympia Grill (a greek restaurant) is in Harbor House...

great food...great views of port and sunsets.... great decks....and Belly dancing ....live music .....quest spontaneous dancing.

You could be sitting in any port in world and it would not be much difference.

It is hard to beat San Luis Resort with its pool also. and Moody Gardens with all you have to do there

Since we live in Galveston, I am not as familiar with parking, transportation and shuttles with hotels.

Enjoy your stay and cruise.

there is a new Holiday Inn Express on Seawall...we are staying there in Feb(due to Mardi Gras, alot of the hotels are already filled). We can park there for free, then take their shuttle to the port and back for only $15.

Avenue E B&B had a good deal at one time. The hurricane may have wiped them out. It was such a nice stay and free parking came with the B&B fee. What a breakfast.
