helenchickchick Posted June 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2009 Hia Just got back from a 2 week cruise round the Baltic, from Newcastle. It was our first cruise and I would like to thank everyone for giving us advice etc before we left. All in all we had a great time.:) The weather was really good (only 2 mornings with a little rain). The ship (Spirit) was very clean and tidy and the staff were fab. We found that we were in the minority being between aged 30-35. There were a few other couples/groups but not alot. That didnt cause us any problems and we met lots of nice people. We ate in both the Compass Rose and Lido and found food great in both. We went to the cinema and also to the live shows which were good and the entertainment in 'High Spirits' was very good too. We only really did the arranged trips in St Peterburg and just did the other ports ourselves. Our Favourites were Helsinki and Stockholme (and St Petes) I dont want to go on and on, but if anyone has any questions I will be happy to answer them. Thanks again. Ozzimandius Posted June 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2009 How far are the city centres from ship[not St Petes or Aalborg] Were shuttles laid on if so how much? Could you walk to centres from ship?[we are good walkers and don't mind walking distances]
helenchickchick Posted June 9, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Hia Oslo - 5 min walk. Helsingborg - free shuttle bus about 5/10 mins. Stockholme & Helskinki shuttle bus £4 return for each, about 10 mins (too far to walk) Go early when you have to pay as we couldnt get off in Helskini until 11am! Tallin - Free shuttle, but we walked about 15/20mins walk. Warnemunde - 5 mins walk. Aalborg - free shuttle but we walked 15 mins. Hope thats right! It feels like ages ago.xxx
ladyjayneq Posted June 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Glad to hear you had a good time, we're off on the 10th July. How did you get on regarding currencies. Do you know if theres anywhere to change money on the Spirit.
helenchickchick Posted June 9, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Hia We took Euros with us but did change some at the ship reception - no problems. They change it back aswell including any coins. Not sure what exchange was. Didnt need to change for Russia as used Euros. We found some places accepted euros in non-euro countries but not everywhere. We felt better having a bit of currency with us - just incase.x
