Teens in two different groups

We are cruising for the first time. Our kids (boys) are 13 and 17 (just turning 17). It sounds like the activities for teens will place them in two different age groups. The older one will blend right in with anyone, but the 13 year old is a little more tentative until he gets to know someone. Anybody have similar experience with this situation? How did it work out?

We traveled with our 16 and 13 year olds on the Valor in March. we had the same issue as they absolutely would not let the 13 year old go with the 16 year old. Our kids ended up not doing any of the activities because neither one of them wanted to be alone, but they ended up having a fantastic trip-lots of mini golf, water slide, laser tag, and food galore whenever they were hungry. As another posted suggested, you should go and sign them up the first night and if they arew illing to go once, they will likely make friends right away.
