Price drop question

Hi all-

 

We booked a cruise for the Mexican Rivera for the end of Sept. on the Star:D. I looked today and saw the price for the same catergory that we booked had dropped quite a bit ( we paid 799pp and now it is 600pp:eek:) If I were to call, would they give me the 600pp price? Or would it be some fraction of the price? We have not made our final payment yet. Not sure how it works, any insight would be appreciated.

If you are not past the final payment date you can call your TA if you booked though one or call NCL if you booked through them and ask for the lower price. BUT if you have any OBC you might lose it so ask before making the decision. Make sure the price difference would make up for the lost of OBC if that is the case.

 

We are on the Star in October and our price has went from $799 pp to $699 pp so I saved $200 but lost $100 OBC. So I still came out ahead. I have been watching the price on your cruise hoping ours would come down to that price. Right now ours is back up to $749 pp.

We booked thru the Casinos at Sea, and have kept an eye out for any price drops. We have received 2 price reductions so far. As long as you have not made your final payment, you are pretty safe. We are on the coastal reposition cruise and there are a lot of open cabins, I am hoping for one more price drop. :)

You won't know for sure until you call. Do it ASAP as prices can go back up as quickly as they drop. Good luck!

I was wondering if you have already paid for your cruise in full and there is a price drop can you call?

My DH and I booked our first cruise ever and noticed that we can get 2 rooms higher for the same price actuallay a little lower then we paid, we paid for a GTY room and I just paid it all at once. I am ok with just OBC for the difference is this something to call for and ask for the higher room and the OBC?

We are also booked on NCL for the end of Sept so are still in the period prior to final payment....and also saw a huge price drop on our balcony cabin. We called, and although a lot of work, within an hour, were able to upgrade our cabin and get a $600 reduction in our pricing. We did lose our $250 shipboard credit -- but no genius to do that math. Funny thing was, the lower category cabins (balcony) were priced higher than the top 2 balcony categories, so since we were willing to move up a deck and from aft to midship, we were able to save a lot of money....due to the dilligence of a fantastic travel agent, I should note.

 

So, before final payment, keep checking those prices and keep calling in for the lower pricing. Don't be too hesitant to make that upgrade if it means saving $$'s. :D

Just because you already paid the cruise in full does not mean that it was actually due. Generally full pay is due around 75 days out, so depending on if it was 80 days, 90 days or 75 days, will be the deciding factor. Call your TA immediately, just in case final pay isn't due until 75 days before cruising and ask for the lower price. If as another poster noted, you have any other price reductions or incentives attached to your cabin, then you may lose them. When I booked i got a $99 fare for 3rd & 4th persons, so if the new fare is $399pp for 3rd and 4th persons, if i called my TA, i'd have to pay those new fares for the 3rd and 4th ppl in my cabin, but if the price for the 1st 2 people was $500pp lower, then it would be worth my while to take the new rate. In your case, if you have $100 on board credit then you may lose that, but if the over all price is $200 cheaper, then it's still a better deal for you.

I am sailing on the Sun October 12th, and the price of my cruise has dropped twice since I first booked it. My travel agent has adjusted the price twice for me so far. I think I am paying half of what I originally paid. As long as you have not made the final payment, it should be fine to have it adjusted.
