CCL Earnings: 'Last minute bookings' exceed hopes

Carnival says that since March, booking volumes for the second half of 2009 are running 26% ahead of the prior year. Although booking levels for the remainder of the year are still behind, the higher booking volumes have enabled the company to close the gap to approximately three percentage points from last year's levels.

That's the good news. The bad news? The prices Carnival is commanding for cruises in the second half of the year still are at "substantially lower levels" than in the past.

That's probably why there ending the Welcome Home bonus, let alone they changed the option to combine it with the future cruise certificate, they called today and told me I could use one or the other, period. Even though one of there agents and someone at another agency said they were allowed to be combined back in march.
