First time cruise Carnival Conquest Feb 2010

We are taking our first cruies in Feb 2010 on Carnival Conquest. I am looking for interior cabin reviews and on which deck. We are looking at maybe staying on Deck 7 Empress, interior cabin. So I just wanted some input to help pick a cabin and deck.

Thanks

Allison

Although I have not sailed on the Conquest, I have sailed on two of her sister ships which have the same deck plans/layouts.

On the Freedom, we stayed in cabin 8403 on the Verandah deck. I did not care for this location much. It was nice to be one floor down from lido deck, but there was also a lot of noise coming from BEHIND our cabin. Some people complain that they hear a lot of noise from above when they have stayed on deck 8. We decided there must have been a crew hallway behind our room.

On the Valor this past April, I stayed in 9244 on the Lido deck. This to me was an awesome location!! The buffets and pools are are accessed from the Lido deck. You don't have to take any elevators or stairs to get to there. We did not find this deck to be noisy at all! There aren't a ton of cabins up there either. Some people think there is more motion up higher, but I really didn't notice a difference.

I loved this location so much, we have booked it again for our next cruise!:D

I personally don't mind the interior rooms....some people swear that they couldn't sail without a balcony, but I would rather save a few hundred to spend on excursions!

when are you going in February? My family will be on her the 14th! I can't wait! We have a balcony on the upper deck, with my kids in an interior across the hall. We were going to get 2 interiors, but are splurging for my hubby and I(the kids still have to get the interior!)

We had a cabin forward of the elevators on the lido deck - far enough away the there was little or no noise from other passengers, but very close to the lido deck action.

Avoid any cabin above or below the pool deck, a dining area or lounge, and at least a few steps away from the elevators. That way you will avoid 90% of the noise complaints.

We loved the Conquest - have a great cruise.

Inside cabins are all basically the same. 185 sq feet. Extremly dark 24 hours a day with no natural light whatsoever.

The higher you go the more you pay.

Empress deck is the best deal as you would be sandwiched between decks of cabin space--away from public areas.

Grab a cabin as close to the aft elevators for quick access to the buffet/pools.

Any any cost you do NOT want to be under the galley, the pool area, any kitchen (pizza kitchen or grill kitchen) under the buffet kitchen.

the dining room is carpeted so you wont have issues there.

do not take a room under the gym.

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise! We love being able to drive down to Galveston and hop on the ship. Great vacation at a great price. I wish I could help on an interior cabin, but we love balconies and specifically the aft wraps.

We loved 6483 so much, that I booked the same cabin again, three days after getting home from our last cruise. Our first cruise, we were in 7444 (also on the aft, thanks CC members). I also agree, that the Empress deck (7) would be the best floor to avoid exterior noises.

Do you happen to have any pictures you could share with me from this cabin as we have an extended aft balcony cabin also for our Sept. trip?

how was the location, any noise from the thrusters or anything? Did you have a fridge in your room, trying to figure out what cabins actually have mini fridges in them.

Thanks!

Great room. You will really like the aft! No noise, no vibrations and no wind when moving. Also halls are quiet as no one walking by to get anywhere. When docking you will have vibrations. Fridge in all rooms.

We are also leaving on the 14th out of Galvaston. We did have 3 other couples coming with us but so far only one couple has booked with us. Oh well, we are still going even if it's just me and my husband!

Yea! I love the Conquest! The Empress deck is my favorite. Since it is sandwiched between two decks with all cabins, there is no worry about being under a pool or anything. If you want the least motion, go for a cabin toward mid ship. We enjoyed being in the area near the glass elevators. Enjoy your cruise!!

I do, but they are too large to upload, will work on trying to make them smaller. You can feel the thrusters when arriving/leaving out of port, it never bothered us.

My cousins were in a suite that year, and we all spent more time in our room or on our balcony than in their suite. Although we loved the suite ammenities, we can't imagine not being on the aft. Now that we have discovered the aft-wraps, we are completely hooked.

We're sailing on 2/14 as well - it will be our second cruise on Conquest, first time out of Galveston. We booked for the cabin (aft wrap!) rather than the ship or itinerary - we already know we like both ship and itinerary. Our sons have an interior cabin across the hall (deck 8) and they have never had noise problems with similar locations - this will be their third deck 8 interior cabin.

We have cruised on the Conquest six times, balcony, inside room and even a Category 11 Suite once. We have had rooms on 6, 7 and 8 and I like being near the atrium elevator region the best and have never noticed any elevator noise. We are going to try the Lido deck next year; also near the atrium elevators - my son booked this location this year and really enjoyed being on the pool deck forward. Also, just hop on the elevators and be right at the shops and casino on deck 5. The only time we were bothered by noise was when we were over the sports bar during the basketball playoffs. We just love the Conquest, hope you do too!

we were on the conquest in feb 2008 for our first cruise. cabin 8365. awesome cabin, didn't hear any exterior noise, we are early risers so we may have missed the breakfast sounds from above? It was awesome to be so close to the action.

Thanks, Dennis! We sailed Glory Eastern in February for our President's Week cruise. You'll enjoy it - it's a great itinerary and I think I liked Glory best of the Conquest class ships we've sailed. (Not that I've disliked any of them...:D) Sorry our ports don't overlap - we'll be on Miracle the same week. Oldest son is off to US Merchant Marine Academy in less than two weeks - he gets to embark on an entirely different type of cruising.;)
