Dadcab Posted June 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2009 We disembark FOS on 2/8/09 but do not fly from Orlando International until 18:15. Want to make the most of the day but do not want to be struggling with suitcases. There are 2 excursions which we have done before. Any other suggestions? Will RCI take our cases to the airport leaving us free to do as we please?
JanineM Posted June 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2009 If you've done the airboat ride and Kennedy Space Center, then the best way to spend your day may be to rent a car and go to Cocoa Beach! You could hang out at the beach, play mini golf or go to the zoo in Melbourne - 15 miles south of Cocoa Beach (Brevard Zoo). The zoo is quite good for a small zoo with a kid's splash zone and a cool bird feeding area. (Luggage can be safely stored in the trunk of the rental car). If you're wanting a more urban/inland experience, head into Orlando. The theme parks are expensive, but there are water parks that are more affordable, plus lots of shopping!!! And if worse comes to worse, you can rent a day-room at one of the hotels by the airport.
cb at sea Posted June 21, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2009 If you book a ship's excursion on departure day, they will take you luggage and you and end you up at the airport. But, you have to be with your bags! They won't take your bags and let you go off on your own! You may want a rental car, where you can stow your things while you sightsee, or get a day-room at a hotel, so you have a "home base", with bathroom, pool, restaurants....
