I am taking my 14 yr old son on a cruise next month (July) and hopefully by then he'll be a certified OWD. I am AOW diver.

I would like to visit such places as Bahama's, (to see more stingrays please) or swim with dolphins (not caged or captive) or anywhere I can snorkel or dive. Aruba? Curcao? St Maarten?

I have no experience in this at all.. We can go anywhere from 3-5 days (I'm hoping to go play with the Whalesharks in Holbox either before or after this_

I've never been on a cruise before and nor has my son so something that is geared to being suitable for a teenaged boy?

I would check with your local dive shop for recomendations.

If you choose to go to Freeport, Grand Bahamas, can recommend diving with Grand Bahama Scuba. Fred says he has "secret" dive locations where no one else goes.

If you want snorkeling, we recommend Reef Tours - our favorite is 1 hour snorkle and 1 hour sailing. http://www.bahamasvacationguide.com/reeftours/index.html

Unexo offers snorkel, diving and swim with dolphins. We haven't gone out with them yet, but they are next on the list. http://www.unexso.com/

Try Grand Cayman for stingrays.

July will be prime time for the whale sharks but you will probably need more time than you will have on a cruise. To swim with the gentle giants at Holbox you will need to come from the Cancun area and it is an all day trip, if this is a real priority do a land based vacation (my base would be Cozumel or at least Playa del Carmen).

There will be plenty of people his age on a Carnival cruise during the summer.
