Egan Welcome Center

Our Transfer/Tour from Whittier to Anchorage has drop-off at Egan Welcome Center. Is there (safe) Baggage storage there if we want to go exploring before heading for the airport? Is there Shuttle service from Welcome Center to the Airport (how much?)? thanks, Ken

They did announce they had free shuttle to the airport when we were getting off the transfer bus. I imagine you could just leave your luggage there while you explore the town. They were checking ID's against luggage tags to make sure you did not walk off with someone elses.

We were on Princess but I'm assuming other cruise lines work the same way.

 

We didn't have a flight until 5pm and we had to get off the ship at 7:00am which was soooooo early but that's the way they worked it (flights before and up until 5pm met in the lounge at 6:50am). Anyhow, our luggage was automatically transferred to the airport and stored there. Our bus ride to the airport was about an hour and a half. We dropped off people who had earlier flights and then some ofus went to Egan Center, which is in downtown Anchorage and is their convention center and Princess uses one of the rooms as a hospitality center. There, they will hold any carry on luggage you have with you so you are free to explore downtown Anchorage. They give you a little baggage claim for your items. We walked around town, and then had lunch . Transportation from Egan Center to the aiport is provided by the Princess busses and as of course free. They leave every hour on the hour and the airport is about a 15 min ride. Once we got to the airport, you just go claim your luggage and check it in.
