LovesCruising Posted June 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2009 We have never purchased drink coupons before - my question is - do they have a set value? For example - I am sure a beer cost less than a martini - or is the coupon worth say $6.00 and you pay the balance? Thanks for your help. :)
DGP1111 Posted June 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2009 This is the info, as printed on the Bar Credit (Drink) Coupons . . . . . I hope that helps. :)
poobears Posted June 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2009 They will let you use them towards higher price drinks and will charge your card for the overage and gratuity.
LovesCruising Posted June 28, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted June 28, 2009 Yes, it answers my question perfectly. Thank you. If they are only worth 5.25 - They actually make .25 on every sale of coupons then -LOL
smile44 Posted June 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2009 So does this mean they're really only good for buying a beer? Isn't everything else, including the drink of the day in a souvenir glass or regular glass more expensive? Kinda unsure on the point of the drink coupons, unless of course, you plan to drink only beer.
twinklen01 Posted June 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2009 I was thinking the dod card is better because you get 5 drinks but then i realized the coupons are goof for any type of drink right? what size drinks are the coupon good for?
meme2manthajoe Posted June 29, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2009 You can use the card for any drink. If you go over the 5.25 you have to pay the difference with your sail and sign. Enjoy your trip!
co2stay Posted June 29, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2009 If they are only worth 5.25 - They actually make .25 on every sale of coupons then -LOL Gratuities included tho, so another $3.15 (15%) if every drink is the $5.25 maximum value.

pjtulsa Posted June 29, 2009 #11 Share Posted June 29, 2009 I have never used these but on our last cruise we enjoyed the new DOD card. It is a punch card where you get 5 Drink of the Days for around $26 which is less than buying one at a time and also includes the tip. You can get all on one day or one each day and they can be any DOD. We like the Fun Ship Special, it is the strongest:D
Cathy p Posted June 29, 2009 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2009 I buy 3 packs every week. We are now up to 64 drinks. Now I am going to switch and start buying fun ship dollars for our OBC. Our cruise in Oct will have no credit card bill for the ship and consider it is normally $1000 this is a good thing.:D
mia10010 Posted June 29, 2009 #13 Share Posted June 29, 2009 I know they deliver the drink coupons the first night in the dining room. What about the DOD card? Can you buy the DOD card on the ship or through the bon voyage dept? It sounds like a better option than the coupons.
Perfect Stranger Posted June 29, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 29, 2009 I thought they discontinued the DOD card. Can someone confirm?

pjtulsa Posted July 2, 2009 #16 Share Posted July 2, 2009 I thought they discontinued the DOD card. Can someone confirm? They were on the Valor on May 31st and others are reporting them on other ships recently as well.. They can be purchased at the aft pool bar or at the atrium bar on board. You can purchase them throughout the week not just the 1st day. They are good for 5 DOD's and we were able to order ANY DOD & not just the one for that day.
