Radiance and kids

We are a family of 5 sailing radiance of the seas to Mexico. Our 20 yr old and 17 yr old are worried that there wont be anyone their age on board we are sailing in Sept during school. Also we have a 9 yr old and was wondering if anyone has tried out the kids area and if their kids enjoyed it.

This is the kids first cruise and I want them all to really enjoy it.

Thanks

There will be others their age---maybe not ALOT, but some---there always are! Mainly it will be the "home schooled" set...as most won't take kids out of school as soon as it starts.

Which sailing are you on? We are looking as well with our 3rd grade DD. Keep in mind in AZ most kids are back in school by Aug 6th. Oct, the kids get "fall break" for a few days. That is when we are looking at going. The kids in AZ will be 2 months into school already.

We are going on the Sept. 25th sailing to Ensenada and Cabo.

Our Oldest is leaving for boot camp Oct. 13th and we wanted to go to Mexico before he left.

That is when we are going. DS goes back on 8/10 (we're in n. scottsdale, too). Fall break for him is the week of 10/12 so we are going on the 10/9 sailing (he'll only miss one day of school this way).

That is when our fall break is as well. Our anniversary is that weekend as well. So, we figured a good time to go! Have you been on this ship before? We have only done HAL and Carnival. We are on the fence to book either a Jr. Suite or a D1? How old is your son? Do you know how the kids programs are on RCCL? Either way, it should be a great time!

Yes, we have been on the Radiance - DH and I were on it for our honeymoon in 2001, it was an 11-night Hawaii to Vancouver cruise. Looking at the deck plans, they have made some changes to the ship since we were on it (e.g., there was a Johnny Rockets on board when we were on it, which isn't there now, and the mini golf and the water slide are new). We are booked in an E2 since we got a great deal on it. We were on the Mariner last month and had a JS aft cabin and LOVED it - I would highly recommend it. We had tons of space, a walk-in closet, big bathroom, and an enormous balcony. We booked another JS aft on the Mariner for next summer and that is now our cabin category of choice (we only booked the E2 for the Radiance b/c of the great deal).

Our son is 6 (going into first grade) so he was in the 6-8 group in Adventure Ocean when we were on the Mariner. He just loved it. They played games, did crafts, face painting, all sorts of things. Here we are one month later, and he still talks about it. Your daughter will love it!
