Rotterdam port to Amsterdam - What is quickest way to get there for one day trip?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, We (a party of 4) are arriving on the HAL Rotterdam on September 16 2009 at 7:00am in Rotterdam. The ship departs at 5:00pm. What is the quickest way to get to Amsterdam for a one-day trip? Costs? Travel time? Should we allow time to see some parts of Rotterdam or is this too much to do in one day?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Quickest way would be a helicopter...

You can book a car:

we used for our transfers and private tours http://www.dagtoertaxi.nl.

Alternatively you can use the subway (Metro) to Central Station and take the train to Amsterdam.

Check here: http://www.ns.nl

Have you ever been in Amsterdam???

Yes - you can share some time for Rotterdam

No - you should stay all the time in Amsterdam

As Amsterdam counts to Western Europe in this forum you find more information here:

In case you decide to travel by car, remember traffic can be very busy in that part of The Netherlands.

Important when driving back to the ship, as the highway into Rotterdam often has many , sometimes long traffic-delays.

In general traintravel can be better, even when a little more complicated.

On the other hand most cruise-ships often offer transportation only to Amsterdam as daytrip, check with your cruise-line.

Maybe the charming old town of Delft is a nice option. Not that far from Rotterdam.
