Potty breaks on the rental road to the Yukon!

We'll be in Skagway on our upcoming cruise. I'm travelling w/ 4 octogenarians and 2 toddlers. Wanted to do the rental car trip up to Emerald Lake and back, but I'm wondering how far (time wise mainly) it is between places with bathrooms? Not to be crude, but if it's a ways between spots, is pulling off the road to find a tree a reasonable solution (for the boys at least?)

 

Also, is there any problem finding and getting food for lunch at the halfway point or nearby? I realize it's one road.

I'm doing the same thing in 2 weeks myself. I was pointed to this guide and it gives turn by turn info. To me it doesn't appear that there is anything between here and there stop at. I am looking forward to the guide as it tells you even special spots to pull off at.

There is at least one scenic overlook/turnout with a bathroom (pit toilet, non flush) I'd guesstimate it about 40% of the way between Skagway and Carcross.

There are outhouses at Mile 15.3 (from Skagway) and Mile 27.3 - and there lots of pullouts with trees close by. There are 4 places to eat between Carcross and Emerald Lake.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like that should be OK. DougH, I think it's really important that you take some more cruises. You clearly don't have enough vacation and relaxation in your life! ;)

There is a great bathroom at the border crossing- flush toilets. Tons of easy places to pull off the road if there is an emergency stop needed as well.

That's in the old railway water tower, but isn't always open so don't count on it.
