Laughton Glacier Hike in Half a Day. Can it be done?

Hi. Another activity that caught my eye is the Laughton Glacier Hike. Can this be done on your own in half a day? I like to catch the 8:00 AM train up and catch the 11:15 AM train back. I don't know how long the hike is but i would like to go right up to the glacier on top of it.

 

The reason I like to do this is to save the afternoon for the lower dewey lake hike. I rather not return on the 3:15pm train if possible. Just to save time. If I have to maybe I'll have to hike the lower dewey lake after dinner on the boat. My departure time is 9:00PM

 

 

How much (time or length) is the Laughton Glacier Hike spent on the boulder/morrain field? Also, if I have to spend lunch on the trail, Is there a place intown where I can buy something to go very early in the morning before the 8:00 train. And how do you store lunch? I hate to attract any bears.
