EMBASSY SUITES SAN JUAN??

Recommended Posts

Hey there fellow cruisers!

I was looking for some insight regarding the Embassy Suites San Juan. A few of us have had little help on the HOTEL board and the SAN JUAN port board. There is also little information online for this hotel as well as pictures. If you have any reasons to stay here or avoid at all costs, please post them. It looks to be one of the newer places there and has not received any negative responses on tripadvisor. I was also looking for feedback on the pool area since there is no beach on the premises. Again, any help would be appreciated and PICTURES are always a plus. Thanks

We've stayed there twice pre-cruise - Embassy Suites works for us as we have teens and it's way cheaper than two rooms. The manager's reception and breakfast are also great. It's quite close to the airport but we have never been bothered by noise as the flights stop around 11 or so and start again about 7. It's a fine hotel, very much like any other Embassy Suites. The pool area is quite nice, with an outdoor eating area beside it. It's a big free form pool with a waterfall. From the Embassy Suites it's a very easy 2 block walk to Isla Verde Beach if you want an ocean swim. It's quite safe to walk there. There's an Outback Steakhouse on the premises, and I know there are other restaurants nearby but by dinner time we are always so exhausted from getting up so early for our flights that we can only make it to the Outback. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Oh, there is a small casino here to if that matters.

We stayed there a few months ago. Very accommodating at the front desk. No problem getting into a room early if one is available. Pool area is very nice. It is like all other Embassy Suites hotels I've stayed. I love their free breakfast! Very close to the airport. Noise was not a problem for us. I would definitely book it again for a pre or post-cruise stay.

I was finally able to get the SEARCH function to work on this site--a miracle--and found all the past information on all the San Juan Hotels. It looks like I am going with neither..lol..and leaning toward the Intercontinental.

We are going on a cruise out of San Juan in October and I have just started to look into hotels in San Juan and was considering the Embassy Suites. I was just wondering what made you choose the Intercontinental over the Embassy Suites and if you wouldn't mind me asking how much a night is it?

We have sailed from PR and stayed at Old San Juan Wyndham..It was very nice, in the center of town and near one of the piers..This trip (yea! only 13 days left) we are staying at Wyndham Condado Plaza..near the Pan American pier, on the beach and 3 pools, one with swim up bar! We joined Wyndham by Request and then booked direct..It was a little less than their online site. By the way, we are from Wallkill, NY (12 years ago) and our daughter and her family live in Hopewell Junction. We love going back in the summer, but don't miss the winters!

RAYDON: I shouldn't consider myself a native New Yorker, at least not yet. I am actually from Michigan (small town north of South Bend, IN.). However, we both attend MARIST COLLEGE and have been living in the area straight through summers now for about three years. We are seniors in our last few days here and looking forward to graduation..whoo whoo Sure do know where both those places are you had mentioned.

GOLDEN: Of all the hotels I researched extensively there were a few reasons as to why I chose this hotel. First, the both of us are the most picky about our hotel rooms and simply put we are OCD about cleanliness. I have reserved two nights pre-cruise at Wyndham Condado and will be sure to provide you with feedback when we return. This was a priceline turnout and we weren't real happy with it so we decided to just pay the internet fares and book directly with the website to ensure where our stay would be.

After researching extensively over information of all the hotels; we concluded that this hotel met our needs. We needed a clean hotel room(as clean as they get in San Juan). Second, we were looking for a resort with a great beach--this is it. Third, location--we are right next door to the El San Juan (great night life here), and only a short ride to downtown Old San Juan.

We read to many negative reviews that outnumbered the positive on www.tripadvisor.com for the Caribe Hilton, Wyndham Condado, El San Juan, and some others. Now, I have no idea if this is so, and regardless we all have our own levels of expectations as well as likes/dislikes. But i figure more than half negative==raises questions. I found a majority of the remarks to be high for the Intercontinental, and based a majority of our decision on previous stays with InterContinentals.

There was only one reason for not choosing the Embassy Suites, which scored perfect on every review I could find, is the location. I wanted to be able to walk most places in regards to food, nightlife, and importantly the beach. I read mixed reviews on the location and simply gathered that it was not what we were looking for. It is a new property, has larger rooms, and is basically very reliable. You are getting what you should expect from an Embassy, without the outrageous price gouging these other hotes are charging for subpar standards. I would have no problem with Embassy Suites. Here are the prices:

6/13-6/15(post cruise)=
Embassy Suites--179 per night
Intercontinental--169 per night

These were quoted directly from their site and are their advanced purchase--no cancellation rates. I hope this helps and again, we will post a review after we have information first hand. Enjoy your vacation and we hope this helps.

Stayed there a couple of times, however, the last time DH and I agreed that the hotel had gone down in service and cleanliness. We probably will stay elsewhere next time.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in January '04 and loved it. The room was very nice, the free cocktail hour and the buffet breakfast were very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is considering it and I would stay there again.
