sas80 Posted July 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Question - we were just browsing some other cruise last night. We took a look a the promenade stateroom layout. We realized that, since it had the seating area by the window, this could be another good layout for our family. (the seating area gives some extra room to play in) Question - has any family with an infant (requiring a crib) and a toddler sailed in a promenade room? how did it work out with the crib and the toddler sleep area? Thanks!
readytolose Posted July 7, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Promenade staterooms are only available to book for 2 people. You would be able to get away with booking the little one in a crib in the room but they won't book 4 people in the room. We booked promenade rooms for our kids (and grandson) for our cruise. My two daughters were originally planning on having a crib for the 2 year old but once they saw the size of the room they decided to keep the beds together and let the 2 year old sleep between them. The room was very crowded for the 3 of them. My two sons had a promenade room right next door and it was even kind of crowded for just the two of them. There really isn't much walking room and once you start adding in the extra stuff you need for little ones you run out of room quickly.
cb at sea Posted July 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2009 On most ships, the PR rooms are actually smaller than the interiors!
Snowbuddy Posted July 7, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2009 how do you even find the promenade staterooms? i have been checking out cruises for next year, and can't even seem to find them available...are they only on certain RCL ships, not all? readytolose Posted July 7, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2009 They are only on certain ships but the most important thing is to make sure you are only searching for a cruise for 2 people. If you put 3 or 4 they promenade rooms won't show up.
sharktums Posted July 8, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2009 We had a promenade room on the Liberty of the Seas last December with our then 21 month old and really liked it. I agree with the other posters, we gave up with the pack and play crib after a day or so and just kept her in bed with us. Gave all of us more room! She LOVED the room though. She could sit by the window and watch people and just REALLY enjoyed it. The only negative if you have a light sleeper is that the rooms CAN be a bit more noisy. We were on deck 6 near the pub and could hear the musician every night till about 1am, and of course it was loud during parties and parades. If it's a choice between an interior and promenade, promenade for sure! But as it sounds like you have two children...it won't be allowed to put 4 people in one of those rooms.
