shagzie Posted May 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2004 Im soo excited! I just booked the Brilliance for January 14, 2005. I definitely wanted a balcony and all the far aft ones were already taken. Sigh. So next I wanted a "hump" cabin. The only available one was cabin 7594 which is an E1. Has anyone ever had this cabin before? My concerns: Why is this cabin an E1 when all the ones to the right of it are E3's which are cheaper? The ones beside it look like they are even in a better location. Would it be smarter to just go up a level if purchasing an E1? E1 and E3 are supposed to have the same number of sq feet in room and balcony. Can I look straight down from the balcony (no lifeboats or railings)and left and right clearly? Thanks!! masterbaker Posted May 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2004 The size of the balconys are different depending on the cabin in the area of the hump. Check the diagrams closely and you will see the difference. Some of the E-1 balconys are even larger than 7594. Check out 7094 and you'll see what I mean. alcman Posted May 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Location, location, location just like all other real estate . The balcony is bigger and the e cabins along part of the side look down to the life rafts, so the hump cabins are desireable and this has a bigger balcony. As for moving up, my rule of thumb is not to be above or below a deck that is not primarily cabins just in case noise is an issue. Other wise see no other reason to move. By the way, I have one of those aft cabins on the January 14, 2005 sailing. Looking forward to meeting everyone from the roll call thread at the CC party. cmjaffe Posted May 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2004 If you're concerned about not being able to look down AVOID E3 cabins at all costs... you're safe w/E1 and E2s. I know 'cause I checked them out. Carolyn
Alexis Posted May 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Hi, Look at 8596 on Deck 8. It is the ideal cabin on the hump. Right in the middle of the hump giving you a great view of the front and back of the ship, and a clear view straight down to the water. It is the perfect location. Plus your balcony is private because you are further out than all the others. 8594 is the other middle of the hump cabin and exactly the same. 12/06/04 THE EMPRESS OF THE SEAS. **10 ISLANDS IN 11 NIGHTS** VISIT OUR ROLL CALL HERE
vossjemi Posted May 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Shagzie, Great to have you onboard! I thought I remembered reading a comment about 7594 when I was researching, and lo and behold the search function worked tonight. shagzie Posted May 10, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Hi thanks so much for the link vosssjemi. The search function has been a little funny lately. Alcman, nice to find out you are also on this sailing. I'm just soo excited and I had to pull a lot of strings to get my husband to agree on another cruise. I ended up going with www.bestpricecruises.com ($20 more for E1) instead of www.cruisequick.com (cheapest E3). Haha I wonder if that makes sense. Anyways, I don't care much about the balcony size, as long as it's at least the size listed in the brochure-but do care about the location of the lifeboats below me, the capablity to look left to the front of the boat and right to the back, and also noise level below. It looks like the Brilliance bows out in the front and back so I'm not sure if cabin 7594 is a good one. Thanks for all the feedback! KStevens79 Posted May 11, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We'll be in 9658 on the Jan 24, 2005 sailing. This will be our first aft cabin too. I've heard SO much about them that I switched from a mid-ship cabin. Is it January yet?? vossjemi Posted May 11, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Alcman, I think from reading your posts on roll call or somewhere else that you are in 8670. I hope that I am right as my cruise confirmation invoice says I'm supposed to be in 8170 on the 1/14/05 pc cruise. Please tell me I'm right and we don't both have the same room! alcman Posted May 11, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Vosssjemi, You are right, I am the victim of a cruel conspiracy orchestrated by my brain. You are right, I am in 8670 on the Brilliance and 8672 on the Jewel in July 2005. I have no idea where either of the cabin numbers I used in the earlier post came from. My apology for the scare. knowla1 Posted May 12, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Friends of ours were very pleased with Cabin 8604 on the Brilliance. They said the balcony was huge. I didn't see the cabin, but the Brilliance is such a beautiful ship its hard to be disappointed. EMPRESS OF THE SEAS 2/14/2005

shagzie Posted May 19, 2004 Author #17 Share Posted May 19, 2004 Mcbrides - Well, I never really reached a conclusion about 7594 and I've been trying to research it since I started the post. I feel like it is categorized E1 only because it has a slightly larger than normal balcony. As long as I have a standard size balcony, it doesn't matter to me. I am concerned about the ability to look straight down and look left and right clearly without having any other cabins pertruding out restricting the view. Maybe I'm asking alot but if the E1 is more expensive because of the balcony, I'd personally like to move up decks. Location location location I keep hearing but is it really a descent location? An E3 just opened up....7604 which is on the hump. Should I switch from 7594 to 7604 and save money at the same time? This location seems a little more ideal. I think I'll call tomorrow to be put on a waiting list for an aft. Wish the find function would work! cb at sea Posted January 28, 2007 #20 Share Posted January 28, 2007 Don't worry about not being able to look "straight" down. You will be able to see PLENTY!!!!! Honestly, that extra 3 feet of ocean you may or may not see won't ruin your cruise!!!!! You will be able to see the horizon from your balcony for 180 degrees!
