ESummerson Posted July 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Hi! Last night I watched a DVD called "The Singing Revolution." If you like history, this DVD will give you some background knowledge of the history of Estonia. It focuses on the 20th century and the occupation of the Germans and the Russians. Here's the summary from Netflix: James and Maureen Castle Tusty's moving documentary recounts Estonia's fight for independence from Soviet occupation, telling the remarkable story of the hundreds of thousands of protestors who gathered in public to voice their dissent through song. After 50 years of rule by the oppressive Soviet regime, the people of Estonia gave life to a grassroots movement for change by staging passionate rallies and singing forbidden patriotic songs. Based on what I saw in this DVD, I'm amazed that any part of Old Town survived the 20th century. ESummerson
