East Coast Bermuda

Recommended Posts

We are a family of 5 (3 kids) and did a cruise this past spring on the Disney Magic. Great cruise and the kids loved it. I am starting to think about next year's vacation and my oldest (DD11) says that she would like to go to Bermuda. I told her that Disney does not go there, but she might like a RCL cruise just as well (OK, no princesses or Mickey, but there are other things). A Bermuda cruise might work well since we live within a reasonable drive of Cape Liberty (3 hours) and Baltimore (1 hour). Looking at the 2010 cruises and noticed the Explorer out of NJ and the Enchantment our of Baltimore. Which of these ships is more "kid" friendly? I've heard that the Explorer may be, but Baltimore is only an hour from home. Wasn't the Enchantment the Vision class ship that was stretched a few years ago? Thanks.

Hi Rudi610 - you will find that both ships are very kid friendly. RCCL has a very highly regarded Kids program. Yes, the Enchantment was "stretched" a few years ago. The Port of Baltimore is very easy to get to, the parking is easy. If I were you I'd pick the Enchantment...although either would be great for your family. Enjoy you cruise.

Although I've never been on the Enchantment I have been on explorer with my 3 girls. The first time their ages were 12, 10 & 8 and they LOVED it. We couldn't get them out of ocean adventure LOL. They still LOVE it as tweens and teens. There's also a lot of kids for them to meet and play/hang with. Again, I've never been on Enchantment but from what I've read I just dont get as much "kid friendly" impressions as I do with Explorer or any of the voyager/freedom or larger ships - these ships are MADE FOR FUN and FAMILY!

I think it would be worth the 3 hour drive!

Whatever you choose.....ENJOY!

Thanks for the input. I'm also considering some land based vacations for next year, but I would have to say another cruise is very tempting. Our Magic cruise spoiled us rotten and reignited my cruise bug. The Magic was awesome and I would love to sail on her again, but I did take a close look at the Liberty docked next to us in St. Maarten and she looked awfully inviting. I am leaning towards the Explorer if we decide to cruise, mostly because of its activities and reputation.
