Booking speciality restaurants online

I've done a quick search on this & can't find the info I am looking for:

 

Is there a certain date that speciality restaurant bookings are available?

I log onto my reservation on the Royal Caribbean website > Cruise enhancements > Speciality restaurants > Portofino > Reserve now & then I get the following error message:

cor_systemerror_ico_sm.gifThe Specialty restaurant you selected is not available at this time.

Please try back at a later time or you can inquire once onboard the ship.

I have also tried going through the calendar & doing it that way, but get

>> There are currently no Specialty Restaurants for the selected free time. <<

 

I can book shore excursions & gift items no problem, it is just the restaurant that comes up with the error

Any ideas? Does this mean that Portofinos is going to be closed during my cruise?

from what I've read previously, you can book soda packages and excursions earlier than you can book speciality dining. I'm sure I read somewhere that speciality dining bookings open up around 30 days before your cruise....anyone more experienced than me care to confirm that?

On several occasssions we have also tried to book a specialty restaurant online but, like you, have not had any success. You might try calling the phone number that is listed there, but don't expect much help. However, if enough people call perhaps RCCL will improve an area that is not working up to its potential.

We booked Chops on 6/17 for our cruise on 9/2.

I just kept trying until the option worked.

One thing may be that they are full until you get on board.

They don't book the specialty dining 100% until after

you sail. This is so those who don't use the internet

have an opportunity to dine at these restaurants.
