Stevesan Posted July 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Feb 6 2008– Bonaire: Catamaran snorkel with Woodwind http://www.woodwindbonaire.com/cruises.html, . Boat is crowded with 25 passengers, but both the crew, Deirdre (Dee) and Ulf, and the snorkeling is first rate. Lots of marine life and live coral with some fish and turtles. First stop is near shore, mainly for orientation and any who require snorkeling guidance. Second stop, near Klein, is much better. There’s a strong current, so we drift snorkel. There are some reviews on the Bonaire Ports of call board. Just search Woodwind. Others comment that Ulf can be a grouch. He was having a good day when I went. No problem, Dierdre is always a sweetheart :). Dierdre, holding a sign, met us at the pier. This was the introductory e-mail description: What we do: We are sailing from Divi Dive Dock at 14:00 to our first and only snorkel sight. On our way you will get something to drink and your equipment (mask, snorkel, fins and floats) and an introduction to snorkeling, what to look for, as well as behavior among the protected Bonaire reefs. You decide where we go to, but usually it is: Klein Bonaire: At Klein Bonaire you will drift snorkel to Woodwind (see drift snorkel). On your way snorkeling you can have a look at some of the 500 colorful species of fishes that are identified in Bonaire not to mention all the corals, turtles and other floating objects that may pass your way. The snorkeling could take up to one hour. Late lunch time: Well, back on board again and it is lunch time--a warm, local lunch. Our open bar is free all day. We serve: Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, orange or pineapple Juice, Water, Tonic, Soda, ice cold beer, white and red wine, rum, gin, vodka, whiskey and the famous “Woodwind Rum Punch.” Sailing home: The sail or motor-sail back will take approximately one hour. It is time to relax, maybe grab another sandwich and/or enjoy the open bar, discuss different fish and corals, look at Bonaire’s shoreline, or simply have a nap on deck listening to the water, wind, and waves. At around 17:00 we will be back at Divi Resort. If you need transport to your hotel, just let us know.
