Canada's Export Visitor Tax?

I know that up to a 2007, a visitor could claim tax refunds for the GST on accomodation and personal items that would accompany them on their return to their own country.

Is this what you are referring to? If so, it is no longer in effect.

I am not aware of a tax charged for *leaving* Canada, although airports may have fees (airport improvement fees) that all travellers must pay.......
