I Love NC Posted July 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Anyone got a great machine to WIN on???? Let me know! I want to win, too!! Thank you!
Atomica Posted July 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2009 If anyone knew that information, they'd probably keep it to themselves :) In all seriousness, there is no 'one machine' - they're programmed, and I'm sure the programming of said machines is frequently changed and adjusted. Good luck though!
I Love NC Posted July 17, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted July 17, 2009 So funny....we were staying at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas....and everytime my husband used the rest room and I waited for him I noticed folks winning on a nearby slot machine! On our last night in LV, we WAITED to play on that machine and after putting in only $10.00.....we won about $225!!! I made up a map, gave it to friends and they won on their trip about a year later!!! So, it could possibly be done! (it was the row next to the men's room...about 2 in from the back wall!! Shogun Posted July 17, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Hi There, I took just under a $1000 out of the slots on our cruise on the 2nd last night of our cruise on the Crown, the tip be lucky. Never think that staying at the machine will win you the jackpot, have seen people walk passed a machine put in a dollar and hit the jackpot, while seen a lady put $1500 into a machine for nothing. yoursShogun
aprime23 Posted July 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Just remember they pay for the first half of the cruise and set them to take on the other half :D
canadiansnowbird Posted July 17, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Just remember they pay for the first half of the cruise and set them to take on the other half :D That statement above is soooo right. On our Med cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas, DH won the first and second nights as well as several of the other cruisers but not too many after that (including DH) !! Toto2Kansas Posted July 17, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Just remember they pay for the first half of the cruise and set them to take on the other half :D You are joking (I hope)? Do you realize what it takes to change a slot machine's payout? It isn't like just pushing a button at the casino cage. :D
aprime23 Posted July 17, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Yes it was meant to be a very facetious remark, However if they can easily set the machines to pay on every pull for a tournament then you see people playing them for real later and not winning who says they cant turn them the other way!!;) Honestly, I dont think they should 1099 a win, earnings are earnings so why should mine be taxable and not the waiter in the DR. we earned them both on the same ship on the same water at the same time. I have played in a lot of slot tournaments, and have never had the machine win on every pull (maybe I was playing the wrong machine ;))
fathercop Posted July 18, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2009 I won $800 on one of the dollar machines, but I cannot remember which one. As for setting the game between tournament and regular play, that is only with the handful of machines that are used for tournament play, using basically two machines, built inside one, if you will - sorry about the overly simple answer. A friend of mine who works in the casinos says that the ships machines, like the Vegas one have pre-set motherboards. The only way to change the payout would be to change the motherboards. I know we like to think conspiracy because it is the American thing to do, but there is no button or switch to change the machine's payout. Most of the quarter machines payout around 85-87%, maybe as high as 88% or 89%, of every dollar they take in, which is comprable to a lot of Vegas machines. So, over the long haul, of hundreds of spins, the house will not go broke, but you will. Also, as a tip, even if the machine just paid out a checkpot, statistically speaking, you have the exact same odds of winning the jackpot again on the very next spin as you did when you hit. The machine has no memory and does not correct itself for payouts it made.

And for years I thought once it hit, it was done. Nope, I just keep playing now and many times it hits again within minutes. But it's so much fun to listen to all these conspiracy theorys that the machines pay out the first, and maybe the second night, and then tighten up the rest of the cruise. ;)
AAAAmerican Posted July 18, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 18, 2009 On the SLOT Machines ..most do Deposit and NOT Withdraw.. One thing noticeable is so many put only one or two coins in to play. You do have top read the Machine first and play to Your Advantages. Loading the Machines Fully does Increase your Chances and payouts. It is not like 21/BlackJack with many decks (((6)))
long cruiser Posted July 18, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 18, 2009 Dear toto,I worked at casinos in atlantic city for 30 years. All machines are set to payoff at certain percentages.Penny, nickle and ten cent machines(not to many 10 centers)payoff usually 85 % of the time. They are the biggest winners for the casinos.Quarter and fifty cents machines usually payoff 92% of the time. Finally Dollar machines and higher payoff 94-95% of the time. But as you can see none of them payoff at 100% of the time!My suggestion is not to play, buy yourself a gift with the money you budget for gambling. I have never really seen any major winners in atlantic city because the winners keep on gambling over the years. If you hit a major jackpot quit and never play again. long cruiser princess elite member

But I never gamble any more than I can afford to 'loose' and never count on winning (although I often do). I just enjoy it. As said, I never plan on winning, but when I do, it is an added bonus. Kind of like playing video games, you do it for the fun of it. ;)
