How to get to Dubrovnik

Recommended Posts

Hmm so in that case should we enter at the Western entrance or do we just walk the whole of the wall? Decisions, decisions

Well, Dubrovnik was full of cruise ships when we visited last fall (we ended up tendering from so far out past the bridge into Gruz that only the US Navy was further out), but the line at the western gate to purchase wall tickets only took 5 or 10 minutes. Once past the ticket seller, people really spread out and it was a delightful experience with plenty of nooks and crannies from which to gaze at a new view every moment and take photos.

Will we need Kuna to pay a taxi driver as well? How about euros?

Yes, you should have kuna. It was 75k for the taxi - each way.

The walk on the wall is narrow in some places. here are a couple of photos so you can get an idea of the path. The spectacular views are left out so you can discover those on your own!

Just back from Dubrovnik. We took the bus both ways (my husband walked back to port with his GPS) - the bus was extremely easy and very inexpensive. We stopped at the ATM to get Kuna outside the port. We always try to take local trnasportation while in port if possible (and safe) - just part of the experience and less touristy. We found the buses in Dubrovnik extremely clean and efficient. I think it took 15-20 minutes to get to the Pile Gate. HAL offered $15 transfers from port to the gate...the bus was about $1.50.

We also used the bus from Gruz port, and totally agree with your opinion: easy, fast, clean, and well-priced.
