Tu917 Posted May 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2004 What kind is best? Do you need a flash under water?
the_psycho Posted May 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2004 It doesn't matter what kind you get, they will only produce medium quality underwater pictures at best. You're better off getting the one without a flash, as the puny little flash included doesn't make a lick of difference underwater. If you want good underwater pictures, you're going to have to bite the bullet and get an underwater camera with a real strobe flash, or get a waterproof housing for a camera you alread own. <color=#8b0000>until Serenade of the Seas Spring Break 2004!! Travelgrrl Posted May 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I've used Fuji and they are fine. But an important component is the processing - you get better results if you bring your exposed film to a custom photo lab that can correct for all of the 'blue'. truffles2 Posted May 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We used Fuji and had them developed on the ship and they were excellent. A very sunny day is imperative for underwater. until Serenade Inaugural Transatlantic August 3, 2003 Until Grandeur Repositioning~ Bermuda to San Juan Oct. 31, 2003 until Mariner E Caribbean~Jan. 18, 2004 until Serenade S Caribbean~Feb. 28, 2004 Time by Escati~~http://www.escati.com Thanks Escati <center> <a href="http://www.escati.com/counter98/free_time_codes.htm"> </center> RCI 17, Celebrity
kathy7558 Posted May 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I used Fuji on our trip last year - took it down for our first time ever scuba diving! I got great shots both there and when we were snorkeling. I had the CD done with my processing and played around with the color myself on my computer. I printed the pictures on my HP DeskJet and have them posted on the bulletin board in my office at work. Everyone comments on the quality of the pictures. birdyhunter Posted May 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I've used Kodak and Fujii. Fujii is the best. Keep in mind that things look bigger than they are when looking through the swim mask. Get as close as you can before you take the picture. They will turn out alot better with less blue tone. <MARQUEE>RCL Adventure of the Seas July 4, 2004 </MARQUEE> Till we leave : Carnival Destiny 7/01 Carnival Pride 7/02 NBA Championship 2004! kitty1 Posted May 11, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I used Kodak. Buy it at Walmart or someplace like that before you go. They are about $7 at Walmart and $20 on the ship and in the ports. It took awesome pictures underwater while snorkeling. Needs to be a sunny day though, or it won't come out good. Don't take the pictures if it's cloudy. SWACKMAN Posted May 12, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Go to J&R and Buy this Vivitar for only $17.99, you can use the camera in or out of the housing, good to 10ft, has a flash, and you can load it many times with new film... Here's a few pix on a murky day I took with it... ;Carnival Inspiration RCL Legend of the Seas July 1999 Alaska NCL Majesty Feb 2003 W Carr [This message was edited by SWACKMAN on 05-11-04 at 10:13 PM.]
