Which Carnival excursion would be best to book with the ship in terms of value?

Going on to Belize on Carnival Legend in August. Have a $100 shipboard credit that we need to use. Would like to use it toward paying for an excursion. We have 5 of us so no matter what we would have to pay extra cash on top of the credit. Been comparing how much Carnival charges and the local operators. Narrowed it down to 2 possibilities. Altun Ha with city tour, Carnival charges $58, and the local operators charge about $44. Then there is Sergeant Cay or Goff Cay snorkeling tours. Carnival charges $63 to $60. The local i amnot sure. But I don't think they are that much lower. In view of the fact that it seems to be more complicated to book some tours to the cay with the local, (having to take the tender boat to shore, then hook up with the local tour company..etc. I am presuming it is probably more sensible to book the snorkeling with Carnival since it involved a longer journey to get to the cayes. I would like to book 1 excursion with Carnival but have to decide which one I am paying less of a premium for compared to if we were just to book with the local company for a similar tour....Thanks for any input!

You have other options than using it for a shore excursion. You can use it for the tips, purchases at the stores for liqour, shirts, etc..., and I beleive you can also use it at the casino.

So if you would rather book your excursions outside of Carnival, the money can be spent other ways.

Sorry I did not answer your question, but thought I would give you other options.

As previously mentioned, I would use the shipboard credit for the tips.

As for excursions, I think one of the best values is the Mayan ruins at Altun Ha + River Wallace tour. It's kind of like two tours in one -- you get to view the Mayan ruins, and also have a river cruise where you see all kinds of wildlife (crocodiles, monkeys, manatee, etc.)

Don't waste your time or money on a city tour -- Belize is too beautiful for that, and the city really isn't very big. Get out and see the jungle, the beaches, cave tubing, etc.

Have fun on your cruise.

You can even cash out your onboard credit at the end of the cruise (or even during the cruise.....just get money for the 'casino' and have them charge it to your account. You can then spend it any way you choose).
