port of call scheduled time

The scheduled time for our ship (the Jade) to be in Livorno

is from 8am - 7pm. Does that mean we would be able to

get off the ship at 8am? If not, what would be a reasonable

time? Not sure if this is going to make a difference, but our

ship will be the only one in port that day. I have

pre-purchased tickets for the Leaning Tower for 9:30am and now I am worried I may not be able to make it.

You can usually get off at the scheduled time, but you can't count on it. For example, we got off on schedule at every port but Palermo, which was scheduled 7:00, actual clearance 8:20.

I think Livorno is usually reliable, especially with no other ships in port-- but there are no guarantees. It just takes one passport number mismatch to hold up the whole ship.

Thank you. That is really reassuring to know! Since Livrono

is not our first port of call nor the first Italian port we will

visit, chances of mismatched passport number should be

minimized. Keeping my fingers crossed...
