gridswaldtravlers Posted August 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2009 Has anybody taken a excursion offer on the dock when they got off the ship. And if so, how was it? And what ones do you do? And are they any cheaper? We are looking at either whale watching or Floatplane, can't afford both(family of 5).Any sugg? I have read a view reviews about seeing whales from the ship, so is going whale watching worth the extra monies. Thanks for any help anybody can offer. negc Posted August 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2009 There is really no one good answer to your question. Sometimes excursions booked at the dock are cheaper and as good or better than the ones you might book through the ship and in advance. Sometimes they are not. In the case of some excursions, if you wait until you get off the ship you might find that the excursions you are most interested in are all full and you will be out of luck. That is especially true of capacity-controlled excursions such as float plane or helicopter tours. Basic sightseeing tours, on the other hand, are easier and sometimes cheaper to book when you are dockside and some you can pretty much do on your own for much less than you would pay for an organized tour. Check out the tours that most interest you and ask questions on your roll call to see if you will risk missing out by not booking in advance.:)
