chuckchopper Posted August 18, 2009 Author #26 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Guitar Ed ... Thanks for the timely update. Sounds like things should be in good shape by the time we board this Friday in Vancouver. Now ... if the weather will just hold ... :) Lyle (also a guitar player!) Guitar Ed Posted August 18, 2009 #27 Share Posted August 18, 2009 And I would be more concerned with the weather and use your due diligence in washing your hands, etc. We used the hot tubs, pools, spa, with no worries. Didn't bring a guitar. Now the weather, 70% chance of rain everyday. Fortunately, only 2 days had really rainy weather, Kitchican and Seward. Did not see the sun until arriving home in sunny Florida. Have fun.
pinma Posted August 25, 2009 #28 Share Posted August 25, 2009 btt Is there anyone who got off Millie last Friday who can update on the situation last week?
chuckchopper Posted August 30, 2009 Author #29 Share Posted August 30, 2009 Just off Millie yesterday (August 28, 2009). The cruise before us reported no cases and so everything was returned to "normal" during our cruise. self service has returned in the buffet, salt and pepper available at tables, no obvious presence of "bleach crews". Had a great cruise despite the marginal weather at times. Those of you with trips booked in September should have no problems. Lyle
elena7seas Posted August 30, 2009 #30 Share Posted August 30, 2009 Hi Chuck: Welcome home! Thanks for posting. Can you give us your opinion of the state of the Millennium? Do you have any pictures of the staterooms or any other area that has been upgraded? How did you enjoy the MDR? Did you find the new menus to be interesting and well-executed? Any comments would be gratefully received!

He goes out of his way to make sure you have a great cruise. How do you know him? Did you have him as a waiter before he became Asst. mardon Posted August 31, 2009 #37 Share Posted August 31, 2009 Raymay - we booked the Infinity Panama Canal for Sept. 25 because Nic was going to be Asst. Matre D but then they switched him to the Millenium. We are still going to do the Panama Canal but will miss having Nic take care of us. He spoils us every time. marlene

Guitar Ed Posted September 1, 2009 #39 Share Posted September 1, 2009 Nicolus was in our section (Aug. 7th to 14th) and was great. He kept us informed of the important functions. Any problems or questions were handled very well. He was one of our favorites and will do well.

hideawaycruiser Posted September 7, 2009 #41 Share Posted September 7, 2009 We just retn'd from the Alaska Millie 09-04-09. Nicholas was in our section, table 426 and did a great job keeping us up to date. Our waiters were Reggie and Parazero (sp.?) who were also great. We do feel that the dining service crew was a little more rushed and not as much individual time as we have experienced on other RCL cruises. They surely work hard and have so much to take care of. We did appreciate the magic tricks Parazero showed us! The food was excellent in the main dining room and the Olympic Rest. was superb and worth the extra cost. Nightly menu choices were escargot, shrimp cocktail, Ceasar salad, french onion soup, chicken dish, Black Angus beef, apple pie to name a few. Other nights the soups were chilled strawberry, pea and pumpkin soups, corn chowder (delicious), potato soup, various fruit salads, etc. Entrees included frog legs, quail, various salmon and fish dishes, filet and lobster tail, pasta dishes, veal, etc. Desserts included creme brulee, cheesecakes, cherries jubilee, baked alaska, tarimusu, etc. Very tasty! Our trip was wonderful with only one day of rough seas! Enjoy your trip!
mistysue Posted September 10, 2009 #42 Share Posted September 10, 2009 Thank you hidwawaycruiser! Had been wondering about the frog legs....did you try them? Had them years ago on RCCL as an appetitzer, yumm.
kath00 Posted September 11, 2009 #43 Share Posted September 11, 2009 Can I ask that we stick to the topic and talk about any Noro problems. We would love to hear about how the Millie cleaned up after a long and troublesome summer in Alaska with Noro precautions everywhere. Thanks! chuckchopper Posted September 14, 2009 Author #46 Share Posted September 14, 2009 As of the August 21st trip Northbound, everything has been back to normal. No serving in the buffet, Salt pepper, tea etc out and available, No obvious bleach brigades, Just a standard set of precautions in place. As far as I know, they have had no new cases reported in passengers or crew since mid August. I think they are completely over it ... you should be fine for your upcoming trips in September. CAVE MAN Posted September 14, 2009 #47 Share Posted September 14, 2009 We just returned from the Millie, everything is fine, no problems at all. We were told they hired a special company to come in and take care of the problem, and they did just that!!! We found everything to be in great shape, the staff so very pleasing. The new perks for the Elite guests are wonderful!!! Best of all Anna Duwel the Captain's Club Hostess is warm, very sweet and engaging, wanting to make sure all is done to make you happy. We had a fabulous time, and rebooked while we were on board. Hope this helps. Blessings, Carla
