MSN-Travelers Posted August 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2009 We are thinking of cruising to Panama Canal in August 2010. Does anyone have info on weather and how busy this area is in August? I think most of the ships are up in Alaska or over in Europe from early May to mid-September. Did a kwik look and couldn't find a line that started cruising the canal before mid-September. Benita Posted August 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Would be way too hot that time of year.
Richard in Panama Posted August 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2009 how busy this area is in August? How busy? The Canal? 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, 40 ships a day. Cruise options? August is a little early . . . like a previous poster said, most ships are in Alaska or Europe. The Alaska ships start repositioning through the Canal to the Caribbean in September. The 10-day roundtrip from Florida into the Canal usually start the end of November. Does anyone have info on weather Would be way too hot that time of year. Panama is in the tropics . . . 9 degrees off the equator. The temperature is the same all year long . . . only difference is more rain in the rainy season, less rain, more wind in the dry season. In the Canal area it is always hot and humid. For more on thinking about a Canal cruise check out my Panama Cruise page http://richarddetrich.wordpress.com/canal-cruise/ And going back and reading a lot of the past posts on this board will give you lots of valuable information.
