BlueJacketsFan1 Posted August 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2009 I don't remember seeing one there, we walked around Old San Juan on our tour, plus a little bus ride. Now you can see one from the ship in St. Thomas.

maygoddess Posted August 10, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2009 I heard that there was a Walmart in P.R. near the pier, is it true? We did trip across a super Walmart this past April on our way from our hotel(intercontinental resort) to the El Junque rainforest. we rented a car. I can't tell you exactly where it was..but no way NEAR the port..only old san Juan is near the port and there would be no room for a walmart. There is a walgreen's close by if you need basic sundry items. I am sure you could visit walmart.com to get the store locations in PR.

maurick Posted August 11, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Why would you go to Walmart in port on your cruise. Don't we have enough of them here at home.
Dirkgun Posted August 11, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2009 If I remember correctly there is one just to theWest of the Airport in one of the shopping areas. Just ask one of the cab drivers they can take you there.
O2B@Cagain Posted August 11, 2009 #11 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Bluejacket: There is no Wallmart on St Thomas. Not sure what you were looking at...
RayInPR Posted August 11, 2009 #12 Share Posted August 11, 2009 There is a Walgreens in Old San Juan, at the corner of Calle San Francisco and Calle de la Cruz, just off of Plaza de Armas -- about a 10-minute walk from the piers. The nearest WalMart is at the corner of Routes 3 and 8 in Carolina -- not anywhere near the piers. You'd need a rental car to get there.

RayInPR Posted August 11, 2009 #14 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Not really. There are 2 other WalMarts closer to the Rio Mar ... One in Canovanas and the other in Fajardo ... both are on Route 3. But there are supermarkets that are even closer to the Rio Mar ...
orquidia Posted August 11, 2009 #15 Share Posted August 11, 2009 I heard that there was a Walmart in P.R. near the pier, is it true? No, it is not true. i can't imagine a store like that in or near a historic district in this capital city. There is one but it is located between carolina and trujillo alto, a suburb far away from the ports. If you are looking for big supermarkets, there are 3 close to the port (Supermax in Condado, Grande in Isla Verde and Pueblo in Isla Verde) that open 24 hours, have deli cafeteria and liquor store as well. if you are looking for other stuff, there is a giant mall about 15-20 minutes from the port called Plaza las Americas, is that what you are looking for?
