Idea for portible bed railings

Get an extra fitted sheet and a few extra pillows

Put the pillows down on the mattress edge(s) and put the fitted sheet on top of them. You may have to struggle and stretch (but, heck, it's not your fitted sheet!)

 

Could also work on Pullmans, one would think.....just out the pillows on the mattress on the open edge.

Sounds like it will work. I don't know if I would trust it for a pullman (those things still scare me for my youngest) but for a lower, it should work fine.

The ships have children's bed rails -- just ask your cabin steward. The first time we sailed, which was years ago, our steward offered to bring us one for our youngest who was about 5-6 at the time.

Usually we have found the rails to be under the mattress, and if you ask the steward they will make sure they are in place for you.

Thanks for the info about the ship having bed rails! We will be sailing with our 3 year old twins and were worried about getting rails.

The Disney ships had them and the steward offered them to us. My daugther didn't really need them at that age, so we turned them down. I'm sure that other ships offer them too -- I've heard it mentioned a couple times. You can email special requests in ahead of time.

Our 3 year old son slept on a pull out couch on the Freedom and we used the pillows underneath the sheets. It worked really well! Not sure if I would try it on a pullman though.
