drug so you will not get sick drinking water in Mexico

Dose anyone know what drug it is that you take so you can eat and drink in Mexico and not get sick? How well does it work and how soon do I need to take it before I arrive?? thanks

I have taken tetracycline before twice. The first time my company sent all of us to Acapulco for 4 days and my friend and I were virtually the only ones who did not get sick and we took 1 tetracycline a day. The second time it was just me and my ex-husband. We were there in Acapulco for 10 days, I think, and we each took a tetracycline every day. I did not get sick but the ex did after a night out drinking te-kill-ya. He was moderately ill for the rest of the trip and still at home. He finally went to the doctor and the doc said the tetracycline killed the good bacteria in his stomach and told him to eat yogurt, which he did and it made him all better.

 

I think you have to watch sun exposure on antibiotics though.

 

This last time I didn't take anything and had no problems. Only ate or drank a few times though off the ship.
