Mendenhal2 After 5:00 Whale Tour

We will be arriving in Juneau at 2 PM and will do a whale tour until 5. They will then drop us off at Mendenhall. How will we be able to return to the ship? Our ship does not leave until 10:30 PM and we really want to spend time at Mendenhall.

When are you traveling? The sun doesn't set at the same time every night. If you are talking about cruising in 2009, you really don't have time to see the glacier.

 

You will have to arrange for a taxi as the last of the buses departs at 6pm.

We did this after our whale watching tour in May. We were dropped off at the glacier park. We had two taxi company phone #s in our cell phone. I don't have the #s anymore, but found them off a Juneau chamber of commerce or tourist info site. We called & the taxi was there in about 11 minutes. We even loaned the cellphone to someone who needed to call for a taxi for their group. Mendenhall was a beautiful area to sit & wait for the taxi. Of course, we had awesome weather while we were there which made the whole day even more enjoyable.

We had the taxi drop us off in at Red Dog. Yes, it's touristy, but the Alaskan Amber was superb!

You should check with your tour company. Ours dropped us off and gave us an hour, then returned to pick us up. Unless you plan to hike, an hour is enough.
