EscapeFromConnecticut Posted December 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2004 Anyone stayed at the Numero Uno Guest House in San Juan? We're considering either this or the Sheraton Old San Juan for a couple of nights after the May repositioner of Grandeur of the Seas ... tripadvisor seems to have LOTS of opinions, but equally divided on both hotels. karen2cruz Posted December 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2004 We'll be there for our pre-cruise in less than 4 weeks. Will let you know then. However, all the reviews I've read rate it really high. We wanted something quiet and relaxing right on the beach. You can even have your dinner on the beach. We'll check back to read your thoughts Numero Uno after your cruise. When you booked your stay, what sort of cancelation policy did the hotel give? karen2cruz Posted January 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2005 The cancellation policy is full refund if you cancel 21 days or more; or loss of deposit if less than that, which would be our 1 night stay. This is undestandable for a bed and breakfast with limited rooms. We have stayed in other bed and breakfast inns, and they are a little more expensive on a whole, but well worth it for the ambience and peacefulness. karen2cruz Posted January 31, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2005 Hi EscapefromConnecticut- Just got back from the cruise ...boo-hoo! Anyway...The stay at Numero Uno was very pleasant. The location is the big plus, in addition to their award-winning restaurant called Pamelas. The rooms are smallish and the furniture could use an update, but the staff are very accomodating and it is very functional. Our room was right off the patio and within 15 steps we were on the beach. They have a wonderful breakfast bar and we ate breakfast on the beach, quiet and romantic. It is gay-friendly but it seemed like the clientele was 1/2 and 1/2. They will call a taxi for you and they are there within 10 minutes. Enjoy your trip.
EscapeFromConnecticut Posted February 1, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 1, 2005 Anywhere else to eat in the nearby area? (I've heard there is a great bakery someplace close, but was also wondering about dinner or lunch) Sounds like the beach is spectacular. Good swimming, too, or mostly just a scenic spot? Did you like the neighborhood around Numero Uno? Hope you had a terrific cruise!
karen2cruz Posted February 2, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2005 Hi, The neighborhood is fine. The pool isn't for swimming; but, there were lots of people in the ocean in the afternoon, when we arrived. Yes there is a bakery/deli nearby (Bebo's? I think) and as we drove by it was very crowded. We wanted to go there but ran out of time.
