Question regarding bringing items on board

Hey everyone!

I'm just full of questions, aren't I? Haha.

Anyway, here's one. As I've said in the past, my only experience cruising in the past has been with RCCL, who allows you to bring soft drinks, juices, and bottled water on board with you.

Does Princess allow this as well? I'm not planning on bringing booze on with me, so that's not the issue. Just wanting to know if I can bring a few Cokes or juices on board with me or if they'll get confiscated.

And if they don't allow it, how much do they cost on board?

Thanks!!

We just got off the Grand yesterday.

We had a duffle bag dedicated to beer/wine/ soft drinks.

We had a 30pack of beer, a box of cheap wine (Franzia or something like that) and an 8 pack of Diet Coke that went thru the x-ray machine when we boarded. My husband and to shove the duffle bag thru the machine because of the weight of the bag! Sodas on the Princess in my opinion are prohibitively expensive. We bought a soda card (27.50 for 10 days) for our 12 yr old and a couple times we sent him to bring back a large glass of soda with ice in it for us.

We bought beer on board. They were running "specials" 5 DosEquis for the price of four (14.00) or Becks Light 5 bottles for the price of 3 (9.00?) and we did run a bar tab as well as the beer my husband kept in the room.

Hopefully my cabin steward took the wine that was left in the refrigerator (which was more than 1/2 full)!

Returned from the Caribbean Princess on 12/04/04 and took the following onboard with absolutely no problem:

  • 5 bottles of Champagne
  • 2 - cases of beer (cans)
  • 2 - 12 packs of water
  • 3 - 12 packs of soda

We ordered our liquor from the ship as it is priced very competitively (1 liter of Stoli for $22).

Also took some mixers .... cranberry juice, olive juice for martinis, tonic water. We had a mini-suite, so entertained in our cabin frequently .... needed lots to share! :D

Not to worry, the bars got tons of business from us as well! :)

Enjoy!

Just got off the Regal a few weeks ago. If you want bottles of rum, vodka, etc. go to a bar and buy it from there. I purchased from the casino bar from JR for $20.00 per bottle. We purchased Tequila ( collector bottles) off shore in Mexico and no one said a thing nor did they take it. Good Luck.

  • 2 weeks later...

I use a collapsible tote bag that looks somewhat like a soft-sided briefcase (but it is wide open inside). I can get a dozen 20-ounce water bottles in there, easy. I close it up, put a plastic tie on it, tag it, and send it off with the stevedore along with the rest of my luggage.

On the way back, it folds flat and goes into the bottom of my luggage, or if I've bought a lot it can come back with purchased items. Its also handy for last night's clothes if you need something for that.

CruiseNut7,

Did you conceal the packs of water? I am cruising on the Star in a few weeks and would love to bring at least 1 12-pack of water with us, but would prefer not to have to use another suitcase.

You will not need to conceal your bottled water. Just carry it on anyway you want to. Have a wonderful cruise!
