buying duty free on board oceana

They have 2 prices. An onboard price and a goes home price.

The sold Bombay Saphire Gin at £12.70 and a goezome price of £10.50. Now that was available 3 days before we got home and before we arrived at Gibraltar. It is conceivable they were trying to match the onshore prices.

Packs of 200 were available for gozome buying.

Clearly duty-free cigarettes were available without restriction in Gibraltar.

The restriction came at Southampton were every single baggage desk in the Green channel was occupied and mountains of cigarettes were being stacked up.

Now I wonder how they picked the smugglers so easily? Was the luggage scanned as it was off-loaded? Was it then marked so they could spot it as it went through the green channel?
