coin free slot machine

Hi lollyandsugar What a coin free slot machine is that you put your $20 bill or what ever amount you want to play in the slot machine. If you win or want to stop playing after awhile and still have some money left just hit cash out and you will get a ticket from the machine for the amount left or amount won. You can either take it to the cashier to redeem it for the amount on it or you can use it in another machine just like cash.

humm, i dont know if i like this idea, it sounds as though they just want to make it easier for you to carry on playing on that one machine, rather than queing at the cash desk to get your money back.:( also it will stop machine hopping in its tracks as you will be a long time cashing in.

Madison,

It don't stop me from hopping. You just take the ticket - which is nice and clean - and stuff it into the next machine.

Most all of Vegas has gone this route. Think of the money saved by not having cash girls on the floor or 4AM pickups of tons of coins. It's also nice when you go eat and don't have to carry a bucket of coins with you. The ticket can be cashed in at the cashier desk or a one of the cash machines placed around the casino.

The machines have a coin falling sound when you win anything but it is not like the real thing.

hi vince boat,

thanks for reply, didn't know that you could use the ticket in the next machine, thought you would have to collect money first to play again. that makes more sense now. i do like to hop around if im having no luck on one machine i will move on and try my luck some where else:)

You are encouraged to insert your sail and sign card into the machine to gain points for rewards. Also, when this card is in the machine you can use it as a credit card against your shipboard account. Careful there. There will also be an additional charge for your use of the card for credit. Same as using the ATM on board except it is more difficult to keep track of how much you are spending. While I like the clink of the coins, I will take the ticket and put it in my pocket. When I use my allotment of bills, I either go to using the tickets in other machines, or, cash them in for a later time. Harry

This method also adds money to the casino's bottom line. People lose those slips all the time and that works in the casino's favor.

Personally as a tables player, I hate the sound of clink clink clink all night as someone wins 425 nickles.

I think they originally went to coinless because of dragging all the coins around and the "dirty" coins. Do you remember how dirty your hands got after awhile???

My husband puts a $20 in and if he wins, he takes the paper and saves it in his pocket. After awhile he has a pocketful of papers (hopefully). While I on the other hand, take my winnings and very graciously give it to the next machine (sometimes I'm so generous I give the machine even more money). I'm one heck of a generous person

This is not a reply, but a general question. We'll be on the NCL Jewel 10-30., 14 night repo from NY...Does they Jewel also offer 'coinless' poker/slot machines? I prefer them rather than drag around buckets. Also the 'pretend' coin falling is much more quiet and less distracting to the table player. Also, can I use the room key card on that ship as well to accumulate points? Don't want as a cash advance, just points.

Thanks in advance.

And....I thought I was the only "Overly Generous" giver ... :D

Good heavens this is a small world....I saw Moneta, Va and flashbacks occurred. I used to teach Business at Staunton River High. Then came to the "frozen tundra" of Lake Ontario in NY.

Thanks for the memories!!!!

I love the coin free machines also.....much cleaner on the hands! haha! What I like to do when I cash out, if I have other tickets, I put them in the machine before I cash out and combine them so I just have to keep track of one ticket instead of a hand full.......plus it looks like you won more!!! haha!:D

Hi, can someone please explain to me what that means. I don't want to have to pay any commission to use my own money. If anyone has played on that kind of a machine, please let me know. Thanks:)

It just means when you cash out a receipt will print instead of giving you coins. In addition many of the machines have no place for you to insert coins making you use bills.

You can use your room card as your players club card. Also, at least on Carnival, you can block it from being used as a cash card in the casino. Easier not to get carried away or make a mistake that way.

thats no fun. No clink-clink and jingle of the coins dropping.:( I hope they all don't change over to that way.

Almost all slot machines, both at sea and in casinos on land, have been changed over to the ticket machines.

Personally I really like it. No waiting for a hopper to be refilled. Very easy to change from machine to machine and from denomination to denomination. No having to carry buckets of coins.

Before ticket machines I once won $50 on a nickel machine and it took two buckets to carry the 1000 nickels to the cashier, and they were heavy.

I love the ticket machines and we do 3 or 4 gambling trips a year to NV.

Or end up with a very expensive book mark like I have.

When I was on NCL last year I had the habit of putting the paper in my book once I cashed in on a big win. At one point I would just slip in a paper to play. Well on the way home I found my very expensive book mark. And they have an expiration date for those of you that may do the same, so beware you can only cash in on THAT cruise.

I was on the Carnival Ecstasy in January, 2009. There was no charge to use the sign & sail card to get credit. I wonder if this is still true? Heck, if I wanted, I could go to a machine, get, say, $200 credit, then immediately cash out and get $200 cash from the cashier -- an interest free loan (assuming I pay off my credit card in full on time)!

I like the coinless slots. I no longer have to wait for the coins to drop (with perhaps a jam or running out of coins). I don't have to search for a bucket for the coins (which sometimes is no where near my active machine). I don't have to carry a (hopefully) heavy bucket of coins to the cashier. I don't have to trust that the automated coin counter is correct. And I don't have dirty hands from handling all of the coins. Plus, as been pointed out, it makes it much easier to move from a quarter slot to a nickel slot, or whatever. But, as has been mentioned before, be sure to cash out the last night of the cruise. You can't even cash out the final morning at debarkation -- probably because the casino has to be closed then. I do think ships ought to not have the tickets expire, so if you do happen to forget, you can use them on the next cruise on any ship in that line. Heck, some people might book another cruise just because of that! ;)

Love the tickets and no dirty coins but like those tickets to read $1,000 or more! LOL Last weekend our cruise stopped at Freeport because the seas were too rough for tendering into NCL's private island. The Isle One Casino in Lacaya actually gave coins which was the first time I'd seen that in ages. At least it spit out some coins for me! I didn't expect a casino so only had $2 cash and was able to play an hour and leave with $6....we won't discuss DH's donation to the island!

Just of Glory! Carnival. Gambled every night. I'd say I lost about $500 in slots, which of course is very stupid because you could never make that amount back. The coin free on Glory means that you put paper money in the machine and if you want to cash out the money goes right on to your room card. The problem I kept having is that I like to jump machines. When you have less than $10 on your card you either have to go to the cashier or play out the money on the machine you are on. You can not load an amount less $10 on to the machine from your card. It made me stay on a losing machine because what I am I going to do with a $5 credit. I could not just change machines with the $5 credit. My advice is carry $5 bills. Quick cash in cash out.

HI,

Just be careful with those paper tickets. My Mom came home with a 125. dollar paper ticket. She just stuffed it in her purse and forgot it. Luckily they booked another cruise within 90 days and after some phone calls, were allowed to cash it in. (doubt this happens too often) thanks RCCL!

My recommendation, never leave the casino with uncashed tickets.

Thanks so much for explaining this in simple language. I won't be using the S&S card in the casino. Guess you don't get a players card to keep track of your points or do you?
