LICRUISEAHOLICS Posted May 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2012 Living on long island makes for a quick trip to bayone, NYC or Brooklyn. Since hubby won't fly, we have sailed from all these ports for years now. Wondering if there are plans to add new ships or new itineraries anytime soon. Hey NJ, By New York you do mean Manhattan? Magic is on the list this year for ships calling at Manhattan ;) We assume Breakaway since NCL will be Manhattan since that is where all NCL ships call. Even the Epic went there but they had to lower the lifeboats before docking in order for the gangway to meet the ship.
chrisc71 Posted May 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2012 On the Royal Caribbean board there was talk about a ship change in NJ. A quick look at Royal's website shows the Explorer there in 2013, 2014 has not been posted.

As a native of NY City, I know the difference between NY and NJ....and Manhattan and Brooklyn, too. ;) "Mayor Bloomberg and Norwegian Cruise Line Announce New York City Will Be Home to State-Of-The-Art 4,000 Passenger Cruise Ship Manhattan Cruise Terminal Will Serve As Year-Round Home Port Beginning in 2013 for at Least 88 Calls, Generating an Additional $35 Million in Direct Spending in New York City New York - Oct 6, 2011 --- " When they held the press conference announcing the Breakaway would be based in NY, mention was made of modifying the cruise terminal so it could handle the Breakaway's lifeboats. DanJ Posted May 24, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 24, 2012 There's also speculation that RCI will be replacing the Explorer of the Seas with the first ship of the new Project Sunshine class whenever that class is supposed to debut (2014?)
