Havana Daydreamer Posted August 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2011 I will be cruising in the Caribbean for 7 nights in November. How many formal nights (or "elegant evenings") will there be? What is the dress code for the formal nights? I'm hoping not to lug 2 suits for my husband and son, but rather they go in dress pants, shirt and tie. Will I be ok in a short dress or do I need a gown?
FlipFlopCruiser Posted August 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2011 You'll be fine. You see more dress pants and hawaiian shirts than you do suits and ties these days. And very few long gowns too.
Panelope Barnabus Posted August 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2011 7 day sailings have 2 formal nights :):):) DH wears a suit, & I always wear a gown, but a short formal dress will be just fine! Have a great time!!!
seniormom Posted August 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2011 Wear whatever you are comfortable in. My husband and sons don't take suits anymore. They just wear shirt, tie & slacks. I wear nice sundress. You'll see everything. We were on Conquest in May and not one bit underdressed....
firefly333 Posted August 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2011 I bring one dress and wear it to dinner both nights and take it off the minute dinner is over. suits are so much the same for men. I would not consider lugging 2 suits. Nice shirt and pants is enough, a tie is nice, coat not required.
