Rome - Marker for Peter's Crucifixion

In researching more info of the Vatican area I ran into a comment not seen before. I know that the obelisk was moved from the Circus of Nero (on the south side of St. Peter's) to the front of St. Peter's. Now I read that there is a marker to the south of St. Peter's showing the original spot of the obelisk at the circus. Has anyone seen this? Is it inside the Vatican walls? I am aware of the location of the circus in relation to St. Peter's and kind of expect the marker to be inside the wall.

I know that this is something that Cruisemom2 may know.

Yes, the marker showing the original location of the obelisk that decorated the center of Caligula's circus is inside the Vatican and in fact it is close to the Scavi office. I saw it when I took the Scavi tour there a few years ago. It's not accessible, to my knowledge, unless you have a tour booked as you have to go through the Swiss Guards checkpoint to reach the area.

Another question - We are going again in 2018 and I'm noticing that some things will be closed Tues. May 1. A few places I am trying to find out about are the Jewish bakery "Pasticceria Boccione" (we went there last time and would like to again). Also the Marmoraro shop on Margutta (they engrave marble plaques) and the "Wedding Cake".

Might you know about any of these.

Many if not most shops are closed on May 1. You can try to ask them directly. I found a Facebook page for Boccione where you can send a message:

As for the Vittorio Emanuele monument, it does seem to be open on May 1 based on a few sites I checked. However, the hours may be shorter and it could be crowded.
