Veggie inflight meal on fly-cruise

Hi - We are going on our first fly-cruise in December and would like to have a vegetarian meal on the plane. The P&O FAQ website says that this is possible on our chartered flight but doesn't tell me how to arrange it. Is it simply a case of requesting it once on the plane (but what if they run out?). Whenever I have requested a vegetarian meal on other flights (non-cruise flights) I have been able to request this via the airline.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Brendan

I'm fairly sure you have to arrange it in advance. I think I've heared some of the Flight attendants saying something about "Oh we've got 3 or whatever Vegetarian Orders on this flight" when they were chatting to each other. I would either phone P&O or your cruise agent if you didn't book direct. I certainly wouldn't just hope there will be one on board. It's usually a choice of something like - Chicken or Lasagne - that sort of thing.

We phoned P&O to book a children's meal so I imagine it would be the same with a vegetarian meal. Although I couldn't swear to it, I'm sure that you have to request it by a certain time before your flight (a week or two before?) The information was either in the P&O help section or the flight info on the cruise personaliser.

You will have to request in advance via either P&O or the airline. Please don't leave it until you board as the airline will only load the number of specialist meals requested in advance.

Remember to request your required option for the return flight too. Do not assume that they will order for both sectors.

We'll have to sort this too, my wife and I are vegetarians but we've always had no problem previously on fly cruises with several lines.

It's just a matter of finding the correct procedure or link.

I've just looked at the seating selection page for our flight but on that page there's no mention of meal requirements.

Usually airlines require 48 hours notice of special dietary requirements.

Thanks everyone - I'll give P&O a call in the next week or so. The Thomas Cook website wants me to enter a Thomas Cook booking reference so I guess I'll have to go direct to P&O (I booked direct with P&O)

Hi, did you manage to sort your meals out for your flight?

Hi, did you manage to sort your meals out for your flight?

Hi - I found the menu choices on the Thomas Cook website. The veggie option on long haul flights is cheese souffle (which really doesn't appeal) whilst the meat option is sausage and mash or chicken. Given that my wife and I have a preference for vegetarian food rather then being strictly vegetarian we decided to stick with the normal menu.
