Sea of Cortez?

We are leaving on our cruise next week. A friend is highly promoting us visiting a "Gilligan's Island" around the sea of Cortez. Here are his exact words "Cabo has great little Gilligan's Islands in the warm, calm Sea of Cortez. Hire a man with a panga (the little motor boats) for a 3 hour tour. Very scenic and relaxing, just stay in the seaside, not the Pacific Ocean, totally different beast." Anyone out there have a recommendation on where to visit, and how to get there? Of course, the 3 hour tour was a nod to the TV show. :)

There's a basic tour.... Land's End then over to Medano Beach. Only go to Medano if you can jump out of a boat into the beach.

Or take the ship's excursion, Cabo by Land and Sea. Goes to Land's End and a bus tour thru town. When we did it we were picked up directly from the ship.

Dont think the Panga's will go to the Pacific side. It's very rough over there.

You can catch a panga (water taxi's) anywhere in the marina or on medano beach. There is a Billygan's beach bar, as well as several others, on medano beach. Mango Deck and The Office are two of my favorites.

Most of the pangaeros (panga operators) speak a little English. Ask for a tour of the Sea of Cortez. This is just a huge bay. You can go to Land's End, Lover's Beach on one side of the bay and then go to Chiliano Bay and Santa Maria Bay on the other side of the bay.

Santa Maria and Chiliano Bay's are my favorites to snorkel in. The visibility there is much better than medano beach. 3 hrs should be more than enough to do all this. I'm not sure what the going rate would be but you can have a great time and it would be your own little personal tour.

Be sure to plan some time to stop at Billygan's, Mango Deck, The Office, or any of the other beach bars for a cold one and maybe a quick lunch. Your Pangero will come back and pick you up. Have a wonderful time!
