quandrea Posted June 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2016 Can one change a booking after final payment? Final payment was today. I'm wondering if I can upgrade one of my inside stateroom to a balcony. Can I move my stateroom to another location but within the same category? Bell Boy Posted June 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2016 Yes you can upgrade if your choice is available but there will also be an additional charge for the change, I've done it once or twice. However you can't ( or I should say you'll have a problem) moving your allocated stateroom if you are on a guarantee booking.

I'm assuming the additional charge will be the difference in fare? I'm not on a category guarantee.
Bell Boy Posted June 29, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2016 In addition to the difference in the fare, there may also be a small charge for the admin, although it depends on your TA or Cruise specialist . I changed a booking several months ago and Cunard added an additional admin charge of £50 :(

BigMac1953 Posted June 29, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2016 I'd love to hear how much the upgrades where when being done directly at the checkin My wife and I normally travel QG. However, a couple of times I've travelled with my younger son in steerage. The last time was November 2015 and all we could get was an inside, because we booked very late. After one night (out of 8) in a cupboard, we got a call to tell us that an upgrade was available (we had registered) to Sheltered Balcony for $500. Considering that we'd paid rock bottom price for the crossing, we took it right away. Stewart

Stewart Not always Stewart. A couple of years ago we booked 18 nights in QG Dubai to Southampton on QM2. Later we decided to visit our son in Vietnam so booked Singapore to Dubai but in Britannia Club, it was only 11 nights and we were trying to save a few £££s. While in Vietnam, we decided we really wanted QG all the way and on boarding asked to upgrade. Yes, there was a cabin available and Southampton "gave permission" for us to upgrade (!!!) but we paid handsomely. When we checked, not only was it not cheaper, but was actually slightly more costly! Made a great trip though! Edited June 29, 2016 by cruiseluvva
Dajo5601 Posted June 29, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Hey BigMac1953, what exactly is "steerage", can't find details anywhere?
BigMac1953 Posted June 29, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2016 Hi Gill It probably depends on how busy the ship is. Last November, lots of people had requested an upgrade, but it turned out that as they went down the list, I was the first to agree to spend the money. Two lots of friends of ours, on two different occasions, managed to get a good deal from Britannia to QG on return legs on roundtrip TA's. Pot luck I suppose.
