My Premier Cruise on the Conquest

Just returned from a b2b on the Conquest. First cruise was a Premier cruise and the 2nd was a casino rate cruise.

The Premier cruise was fun. The machines I was playing were pretty tight but I did hear multiple announcements about jackpots being won by others. Sadly, I was not one of them:( I did have a few nice runs which kept me playing but I did not come home a rich woman! The gifts we received were nice, not great.

I had heard so much about the Trevis (sp) cups so I was disappointed when we received a couple of large plastic cups with twisty straws instead. We were comped the Steakhouse and that was very, very nice. The casino hosts were great and kept things upbeat and fun. Have also read complaints about not being able to get drinks in the casino but I did not experience that. Servers were always available and I never had to wait more than a few minutes to place an order. The casino was very crowded in the evening but I was always able to find a machine to play. I would guesstimate that there were 200 plus Premier cruisers on this trip. Mornings were a good time to play. Casino was relatively empty except around the casino bar but I think that many of the people hanging out there were there because they could smoke.

The 2nd cruise was a bit more subdued. No special contests or gifts. But it was stress free and we had a very good time. B2bs are a great way to travel. We loved not having to pack and leave when everyone else was racing to get off.

I did recieve a bounce back offer for a free 15 day or less cruise so am currently reviewing our options. It's a toss up between the Sunshine out of NY or the Pride out of Baltimore. No airfare for either however, it is a 4 hr drive and an overnight hotel for the Pride but only a 30 minute drive to NYC. The dilemma is that the Sunshine is in August but the Pride is available for June. We are booked on NCL for Panama Canal NYE cruise so am trying to space out the cruises more evenly. I like only having to drive 30 minutes to the ship and the ports on the Sunshine cruise are better but the timing for the Pride in June suits us better. Also, the Pride cruise in June will be before school is out.

Need to make my mind up by tomorrow or the next day before one of the cruises sells out. Already sold out of balconies on one of the cruises I looked at earlier this week.

In sum: both cruises on the Conquest were great. We loved the ship. Big enough not to trip all over each other and small enough to not need CPR after walking end to end. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews because we nor the 6 other people we traveled with had any complaints. (I did see two rust spots on the railing outside the Lido but after some serious soul searching I decided not to let those two spots ruin my vacation:D ) The food was good, some meals very good. We always found something we liked on the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Love the Seaday Brunch. Am also not sure what all the grumblings are about the American Table and the new menus. I enjoyed all my meals except for the short ribs (they were really dried out) so the waiter just brought me something else. Not a big deal. Staff were very friendly and engaging. Even the folks at guess services!

Our wait staff were wonderful as was our cabin stewardess. We would jump on the Conquest again in a heartbeat.

Our son and his family live on Long Island and we sail with them out of NYC sometimes. I find it pretty difficult to have a bad cruise.

I'm with you....no such thing as a bad cruise. Even the negative stuff is just fodder for later conversations and laughter.

The only drawback to cruising out of NYC is the limited choices. But NCL and Carnival meet our needs when we just want to take an easy laid back cruise. So sorry that Princess pulled out of Red Hook.
