Silversea South American cruise 2016 Jan 24th

Has anyone booked the carnival with Silversea or booked it independently. Can anyone tell me the costs please

Hi Lindaysmith; Ida and I booked the Silversea mid cruise Rio Carnaval @ $829pp. Please see the Mysilversea write up of this land trip below. Altho, the write up below says this Rio Carnaval land trip by SS must be reserved 90 days before sailing, you could check with your TA or Silversea to see if you can book.

This Mid-Voyage Land Adventure requires advance booking through Silversea Reservations no later than 90 days prior to the sail date. Requests received after this date may be accommodated on a space-available basis and the programme price is subject to change. Tickets are available in limited quantities and participation cannot be guaranteed for those guests not booking well in advance. Tickets are non-refundable once added to your booking. The price of tickets will increase closer to the date of Carnaval therefore the programme price is subject to change without advance notice.

Indulge your senses with the exciting atmosphere of the world-renowned Carnaval parade during your visit to Rio de Janeiro.

Depart the pier for the approximately one-hour drive to the Sambódromo. Located near downtown Rio de Janeiro at Rua Marquês de Sapucaí in Cidade Nova, this permanent structure is 1,968 feet (about 700 metres) in length and seats 72,500 people. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer and built in 1983, the Sambódromo hosts sporting events, conferences and concerts during the rest of the year, and houses a public education centre which presently teaches 5,000 children.

Upon arrival at the parking area, leave your coach for the brief walk to the grandstand area at Sector 9 (or similar). After being seated, view the lively and colourful parades; the high point of Rio's Carnaval celebration. Held over two nights, the parades are the culmination of months of intense preparation by a dozen schools at the top of the highly-competitive Carnavale League.

During your visit, see between eight and twelve oversized floats and approximately 4,000 people make their way down the 'avenida' while singing and dancing in a lively procession. After midnight, return to the pier on any of the three shuttle buses departing during the intervals (schedule to be announced onboard) between one school and the next.

Please note: This Mid-Voyage Land Adventure is scheduled to operate on the evening of Sunday, February 7th, 2016 and departs after an early dinner onboard. This is a party, festival atmosphere; congestion during the transfer and during the walk to your seating can be expected. It involves walking to the grand-stand seats with many steps to negotiate and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. The tickets are assigned by seat numbers: pre-arranged seating assignments cannot be guaranteed. Guests wishing to sit with other guests should advise the Shore Concierge onboard however, it cannot be guaranteed that you will sit together. Transfers to and from Carnival are exclusive to guests purchasing Silversea's Rio Carnaval package and cannot be sold separately. Space is limited; we suggest you purchase tickets well in advance to obtain the best seating at the best price.

Guests sailing with Silversea for the full Circle South America Grand Voyage will receive our Carnaval Event package on a complimentary basis. Full Grand Voyage Guests should not add this package to their booking. They are automatically listed as participating in our event.

All Land Adventures require a minimum number of participants in order to operate as described. If this minimum number is not met, Silversea reserves the right to offer the programme at a different rate based on private arrangements, or to cancel the specific departure. Silversea's published cruise cancellation policy will remain in effect. All Land Adventure fares are subject to change and are not guaranteed until payment is received in full by Silversea. All Land Adventures are non-transferable and non-refundable for any reason, within 90 days of sailing (unless otherwise noted above) and are recommended to guests 18 years of age and older.
